I will do this, I have already wrote an inquiry to the President and to my local congressman last week. It doesnt hurt to write another one to USCIS director.

I got a respond from my congressman, waiting for a reply from the President himself or the White House staff.

I completely support writing to everyone mentioned... Ours is not even in the CSC, but I really feel for you guys. I am willing to write to the CSC and also my representatives about the slow times at the CSC and also in general (as the VSC may be faster now but no reason to think it will stay that way). I think it's more than appropriate to hold the service centers to their own stated goals of 5-6 months.

VSC people, please get involved too! We all have to stick together and speak out for each other.

We met when Heather travelled to Egypt to be an au pair!

I suggest that everyone also write the Office of Public Engagement and President Obama. I think the OPE should help if you make sure to make a point that you believe the administration should be more transparent about these delays. President Obama was all about transparency during his campaign so let's see if we can some truth out of this. The have a contact form on the white house website.

Make sure you check the contact me checkbox (a response is required) on the bottom.

Maybe it is pointless to write OPE and President Obama but I believe it can't hurt so I did it...

I think a petition at this point is useless. Even if you were able to get 100,000 signatures in the next month, it would sit around for another couple months. Maybe somebody would take some action on it after that, but it wouldn't be implemented for another couple months. And what action would you want .... transfer workload away from CSC so they can work on K1's? They already did that 2 weeks ago, granted results of this hasn't been seen here yet. With the way the government works that decision was probably made back in January or February.

NOA1 - 8/24/2012

OP,

will you be so kind to start updating your original post with guidance, addresses and steps needed to address the issue on all levels and bring some attention to the matter? We could also create public google document forms with all the wording already pre-filled for all the officials we need to contact. I disagree we need to write individual original letters. We need mass letter shut-out and that can be achieved only if everything is prepared for people. Government officials will not read individual stories, but they will notice massive reaction.

If you could, in fact, gather the 100,000 signatures, I would be all for it. Regardless of whether we would see immediate effect or not. We need a change in the way this institution is run and whatever light we can shed on this mismanagement, all the better. Having said that, I have signed on to 3 petitions thus far. I tweeted them. I posted them on FB. I told friends and family about them. Not one of those petitions managed to get more than 100 or so signatures. Three orders of magnitude fewer than needed. Maybe if we can get one to pop over the 150 threshold for publication, we might make a dent. But all of us here need to coordinate and make sure we sign on to get that to happen.

I have nothing but time and am willing to take any and all actions to force change. Even apparently pointless action.

USCIS has a twitter stream as well... perhaps something can be done with that as well, like a #CSCdelays

And they have a facebook page too that seems to allow public comments: http://www.facebook.com/uscis

I'll be writing a letter to all the representatives and USCIS. Gonna try to have them ready to send by Monday

I will be ready to send my letter to the Associate Director on Monday. Is there any consensus for a particular date that we send out our letters or is it more of an individual decision?

Monday is a very good goal. Let's get as much ready as we can, even for people not writing their own, we'll draft up some generic ones on GoogleDocs as someone suggested so people can fill in the blanks, print them off, and send them. I'll contact the OP and ask to update the original post as someone else has done. Everyone else, try to rally as many people into this thread as possible so we can get the numbers up ready for monday. If we get as many as possible sent over next week, hopefully we'll get a swift response.

Edit: I created a GoogleDoc as suggested, link is here https://docs.google.com/document/d/1TkQGEsuhb9-THqopSCVcNGESQEJSR1hKEQGjo5iPEj0/edit?usp=sharing

If anyone wants to chime in and make changes, feel free. But it's there to copy for anyone that wants it.

That's a great letter, thanks for putting the time in to do that!

Not a problem, whatsoever. If it helps, I'd write a thousand of them to speed up the process for myself and other filers. Any changes/additions you'd suggest?

Not really, but I'm not an expert on writing. Only thing I could suggest would be for making the process more transparent and asking what steps will be taken to address the backlog and what kind of effect it would have.

For example, they might say, "We are adding more people to go through the applications." But that doesn't really tell us anything. It would be much more useful to have them say, "We currently have 20 people working on 1-129f's, and this month we have added 10 more. We currently have a backlog of 3000 applications that are over 5 months, and we expect to get through all the July applications by April 15, the August applications, by April 30th, etc. and expect to be back to a 5 month time frame by the end of May."

Ahhh, but I'm dreaming....

If you do the math, they have only had 1 or 2 people working on I-129Fs since December
