When was the last time any of YOU got anything in your life that was worth while with out a fight.

November 1989. Me. Personally. Not exactly w/o a fight but certainly w/o bloodshed and, more importantly, without a foreign power illegally invading my country causing tens of thousands of needless deaths. And guess what? That liberation is actually working. Wanna know why? Because it came from within - i.e. the people were ready for it. ;)

So where from the communist side of Germany?

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Personally if I was in charge I would teach the terrorists consequences for their actions. If they snipe / kill an Iraqi civilian or US soldier, their whole neighborhood gets bombed. If they are from another nation as most of these terrorists are, once again their town gets bombed. This way the animals fighting without any rules or regard for human life will learn to understand the consequences of their actions..

BUT we know most people don't have the b#### to take on the terrorists on their level. Therefore they win, in a war where the US is scrutinized if they don't sneeze right yet the same people turn a blind eye to the atrocities committed by the terrorists towards other people..

The French learned that lesson in WW2. Genius idea...

I would probably agree, a pull out is really the only option as we are wasting our time, money and lives...

But then again... are you suggesting we (gasp!) "cut and run?"

The French learned "what lesson" in WWII? How to wave the white flag? Look, the French were at one time a force to be feared -- even in WWI they were mighty -- but they were totally caught with their pants down by Hitler (like most of the world was, because they passively ignored the problem...hmm...aren't we doing that with Iran now?) and were conquered by Nazi Germany.

Actually I was talking about Le Resistance ;)

Yes and no. No one has the guts to do what needs to be done to remove this cancer from society. Anyone sitting here who would rather have no war and let these animals return to society is fooling themselves. It's almost like believing that a bully or a wife beater or a pedophile or a serial killer will simply wake up and stop what they are doing. That is delusional.

Therefore I probably would get out. Iraq was a mistake. Nonetheless, pulling out will have consequences for Americas reputation around the world..

It worked very well for the ottomans. It seems that many in the middle east only understand the sword.

Yeah, we brought the light to the dark side of the iron curtain on that November day.

No, they win when we stoop down to their level. They win when we surrender our freedoms, liberties and our committment to fight for and uphold human and civil rights. That's when they win. When they turn us into them. But you wouldn't understand that. Edited by ET-US2004

The Conan the barbarian approaching to Iraqi security. Amazing. We go in there against significant public, national and international objections without the slightest conception of what to expect, and when the whole thing blows up, as everyone said it would - and all people can do is throw out the same old 'stereotypes' that only underline how little we understand about other countries and cultures. Yes - they're all ignorant, uneducated savages

I bet that makes you feel better. It's not our fault. Nice blame-shifting.

The United States should have waited for UN Security council approval for invading Iraq, as we did successfully in Afghanistan.

This is an approval that we would never gain. Thus, my point, we should have left Iraq alone, or covertly supported an insurgency to overthrow Saddam.

The loss of life is unbelievable and unforgivable.

Progress yet for Iraqi independence? nope.

Having grown up as a Republican, I am ashamed of this party.

At this stage, I am for whoever makes a wise choice for us, irrespective of party lines.

I'm really very sorry to say this, but all Radical Islam understands is war. The concepts of peace and negotiation are as foreign to them as suicide bombers are to us. If we attempt to "open a dialogue" with the terrorists or "pull out," the only image we will display to the terrorists of the Middle-East is that the United States is weak and lacks conviction.

Don't you think I'd much rather we have a sit-down meeting with them and talk it all out? Such an act would've saved countless lives all around. Unfortunately, they do not, cannot and will not understand this approach. To be fair, it's not entirely their fault -- or at least, it's not entirely the fault of the people. They are brainwashed and indocrinated from a very young age. They are force-fed lies and mass propaganda, and taught to hate the west and everything it stands for from their parents, their religious leaders and their schools.

The only viable approach is to kill every single last one of the terrorists. However, the real trick is figuring out just who is a terrorist and who isn't one. In asymmetric warfare, there isn't a clear defining line between soldiers and civilians like in previous wars. Due to this, a strategy of annihilation becomes very difficult to impliment effectively.

However...when we do find them, we shouldn't worry about what others might think or if collatoral damage may occur. We certainly didn't in World War II! We bombed the the living daylights out of Germany, and didn't give a rat's ### about hitting civilians. Oh sure, we didn't purposefully aim for them, but if they got killed in the blast, it was "too bad; less ammunition for Hitler." We certainly didn't refuse to target a munitions depot or a factory because it might cause surrounding damage to civilian interests -- and back then, our bombs were nowhere near as sophisticated as they are today! In WWII, they were "drop and pray they hit the target" whereas today, we can calculate practically everything due to computers. So really, the civilian casuality rate is really very limited when it comes to bombing.

But the important thing is, if we get Osama bin Ladin in our sights, we can't afford to not take the chance to strike, even if he's in a Mosque full of civilians. Maybe that sounds terrible. In fact, it is terrible, and I hate myself for saying such a thing, but in an all-out total war, there is no room for playing "patty cake" with the enemy. It's either you or him, and believe me, he won't stop for one moment to think about the moral implications of taking you and your family out of the equation.

Did anyone hear the genius Pelosi's latest statement?

"Let there be peace on earth and let it begin with us"

Now the last time I heard that it was being sung as a hymn in church - damn liberals!

Which makes sense being that Pelosi is a mother of 5 and a Roman Catholic.

Well 'death' is the only language they understand. There is no point in even trying to sit down with a group of savages whose sole purpose is to see the death of others.

Bush's 9 to 5 job is not winning the war in Iraq. Whereas that is all Al Quaeda's members do, 24/7. That is, think about how to destroy the west. They are not dumb cave men either you know. The top honchos are actually well educated. They know how to work the media. They know how to work others to carry out their atrocities. They know if they slaughter 500 people in one day, the stupid public sees it as Bush's fault for invading. So they keep on doing it..

That is why I say pull out. Certain people just want to live their lives worrying about dancing with the stars and who George Clooney is dating. They don't want to roll up their sleeves to help the thousands being slaughtered in Congo or Dufar.

That is exactly what happened when Israel stopped giving them a taste of their own medicine. Until that point they cried poor us, poor us. Israel stops and leaves. They then announce their victory..

So what exactly was the point of this whole exercise then?

To take out terrorists... Free the people who where under oppression in Iraq. Obviously the Sunnis don't like this new found freedom for the Kurds and Shiites.. Hence continued terror on their behalf..

So you're justifying pulling out by suggesting that the Iraqis basically don't deserve to be liberated. Incidentally its the Shiites that make up the largest sectarian group in Iraq, by quite a long way actually. So to suggest that its just the Sunnis who are participating in the violence is a bit simplistic no?

We'll probably go in circles again - but where were the terrorists before we went in there? You had a Stalinesque military dictator. Now he's gone and suddenly the country is overrun by the extremists elements of almost every major arab/persian country in the middle-east.

The effort in Iraq is a quagmire. In our lifetime, we will never see success, as we have in South Korea.

Time to expedite Iraqi "ownership" of their country, and let go. Otherwise, the insurgency targeting the western troops will never end.
