Hello there:

I need someone who has experience can help me to clarification between the Justice Record Check #2 (Tam dich: Phieu Ly Lich Tu Phap so 2) and a Foreign Police Certificate (Tam dich: Trich Luc Tu Phap cua Canh Sat Nuoc Ngoai).

According to "Instruction Package For K Visa Applicants" for U.S. Consulate in Vietnam and my understanding that these two above documents are required to have (if applicable) before Visa can be issued. If an applicant (Beneficiary) never travel to any foreign countries so Justice Record Check #2 (Phieu Ly Lich Tu Phap so 2) is the only requirement. If I'm wrong please correct me. I'm confused because if there a translation similar to "Police Certificate" = " Phieu Ly Lich Tu Phap So 2", is it supposed to be Justice Record Check #2 (Phieu Ly Lich Tu Phap So 2)???. Is Phieu Ly Lich Tu Phap So 2 used when we referred to Police Certificate and vice versa???? I read few threads in this forum and all mentioned Police Certificate not Justice Record Check # 2.

How long Phieu Ly Lich Tu Phap So 2 good for from the date issued????

Thank you.

P/S: I'm US Citizen and my Fiance is Vietnamese.

I don't know, I am in Japan atm, heading to to Vietnam to pick up my wife. I'll look at the record and will let you know. I think it's good for 1 year though if I remembered correctly.

Hello,

I work in Ho Chi Minh City from 2006~2008..testerday was my interview for Immigrant Visa to US,and everything went well including the finger printing.

Then the consul told me that My visa will not be released until I get Justice Record Check #1 at Hanoi justice Department.I told the officer that I worked in Ho Chi minh, but He will not listen and instead hand me a paper telling me to go to Hanoi.

I lost all my residence status documents and I dont have anything except my Working Visa printed in my passport.

Will this documents be enough to get Justice Record Check #1.I am planning to go to Hanoi on Thursday...Please advise if anybody got same experience, and how did you do it?

Thank you.

God Bless.

My wife just went to file the paper work for the Justice Record Check #2. We have heard confliciting information about how long it is good for. Some people say 6 months and some people say 1 year. While at the office filing to get the paper she asked them if it was good for 1 year. They told her NO. They said it is good for 6 to 8 months but NOT 1 year. Even that is not a clear answer. It seems the Vietnamese officials don't even know how long it is good for. If I were you, I would just assume it is good for 6 months.
