Birth Certificate - Language.

Dear Friends,

I came to realize that Local Field Office might send me an RFE for the Birth Certificate of my wife which wasn't one of the requirement for filing I-130. My wife's birth certificate is in her native language (Nepali) which we can get it translated in English, no problem. But, does it have to be translated from the issuing agency or she can have it translated from any accredited translator?

Accredited works fine. Here is what they say about translations on the NVC portion of it.

Translation Requirements

All documents not written in English, or in the official language of the country in which application for a visa is being made, must be accompanied by certified translations and submitted to the NVC. The translation must include a statement signed by the translator stating that the:

Translation is accurate, and

Translator is competent to translate.

Thanks, so if the document is on the same official language as the one of beneficiary then no translation is necessary?

Also, dates on your signature are 2013...maybe you meant 2012?

Oops , I never noticed that. I guess 2013 was on the brain when I entered them.

I know there are exceptions in some countries on the language thing but in your case I am sure it needs to be in English.
