I poe'd yesterday and it was so easy.

The guy at the toll booth asked to see my passport, package and compliance letter for my car. He asked me a couple questions about my fiance who was in the truck behind me... a bit of a test, since he asked Mikey the same questions...

We pulled into the office area and went into the building. It seemed like it was full, but it went by quite fast, we were called up within maybe 10 mins. She asked for all my papers and package etc... it had been a while since she had done a K1 so she asked for a little assistance, but other than that she was thorough and quick.

While she was working on the K1 paperwork she asked me to fill out a form for my car. They had a master that I pretty much copied off unless it asked for my personal info.... address, car description, vin etc. One of the questions did ask what the value of the car is... I had no idea, so i guessed, but you may want to find out if you're importing.

She asked when we were getting married and wanted to make sure I was aware of the 90 days... she actually brought that up a few times.... apparently she's had and heard of a lot of people not following the protocol.

We went and sat for a little bit and she called me up to go over the 1-94 and talked to me about my car....

That was that... and we were on our way....

Overall i'd give them a 10/10... they were so friendly and we able to joke around.

9 hours later, driving through a snow storm and a monsoon rain storm, we made it home :D

Good for you! My wife and I have had our share of aggravation at the Detroit/Windsor Tunnel crossing, on both sides. Perhaps we should have done the bridge.

Glad to hear you imported your car on a K1.

Sure would give the Seattle port of service officer (the one who refuses to import my car since I'm a K1) a real jolt *eye roll*

Congrats on a safe POE, I POE'd at the same bridge..So much more friendlier service then the tunnel. I just recently crossed at the bridge with my expired green card with extention letter, had no problems at the booth, the guy was doing his job professionally, but also had time to be humorous.

Hope you low-balled it in case you have to pay State or County taxes at registration.

Welcome home!

What did you bring with you to bring over your car? I really want to bring one over but I'm nervous about the process and paper work.

You will need a compliance letter from your car's manufacturer regarding if it meets the US standards. I also brought along my copy of my insurance and title papers and an estimate of my car's value. The rest they did for me!
