I apologize in advance if I am posting in the wrong forumtopic but we are currently in the process of removing my husband's conditionalstatus in his green card.

Yesterday my husband and I went to purchase another vehicle. While going through financing a company told our finance guy that they wouldnot give us a loan because my husband's SS card is stamped with "for work only…"and went on to explain that it was not a "full" SS number/card. My husband hasbeen in the US for nearly 3 years, when can this be removed from his card? Anyoneelse have experience with this or more information?

Thank you!

Hm he should have been able to have the words removed the day he got his green card. Thats when I had mine removed. Just pop down to SS office and ask them to remove the words now that you have work authorization via the green card.

really its no problem. just go back to the social security office and give them your social security card, greencard, and passport and they will give you a new card showing just your social security number. it happen to my wife and once her two year greencard was approved and once she got her 2 year greencard, it was no problem. they will mail you your new social security card.

When we do business that requires a SSN, we never pull out cards. We have the number memorized and write them in on the form or tell them verbally. We don't even carry the cards in our wallets. He shouldn't have a need to see the card.

They requested to see his card - otherwise we do have it memorized.

Thank you for your reponses, we will get to our SS office this week and see if we can get that removed.

Thanks again
