Siblings of US Citizens

If I could get some opinions on this, it would be great.

My husband is getting ready to take his oath ceremony and we will be applying for his mother's permanent residency. We understand she will not have to wait for a visa to become available since she is in the immediate family category. (Right?) Now, he also has a brother that is almost 19 and unmarried. Would it be quicker/easier for my husband to apply for his brother as a US Citizen or his mom to apply as a permanent resident for her unmarried child under age 21?

Again, I would be ever so grateful for some opinions as I am confused as heck. Thanks!

If the brother is 19 now he may be close to 21 by the time your MIL has her greencard. If he ages out then the wait between a unmarried son ( and he has to stay unmarried ) and a sibling (of any marital status ) filed now are about the same. If he can get in under 21 then the mothers petition will be faster. ( but there is a wait for children of LPR's so you are probably not going to make it )

Our Department of State deals with over 200 countries, with some, are required to have a visa to come here, others not, in either case all must have a valid home country passport. Have to check on their site. Often made the statement, if you don't have a computer, would be dead.

When coming here, will be issued an I-94 with a time limit, can be extended due to certain circumstances, but believe the current price tag is around 300 bucks. You do not want to overstay that I-94, if you do, forget about applying for anything.

You have to petition for that person with the USCIS to get their approval, they have a priority list, spouses and children of spouses come first, others can be at the bottom of the list, like a mother or a brother. But after the USCIS approval with a nice size check, its turned over to the NVC. They have limits to the number of immigrants that come here and which country is under the executive branch, congress does not have a say on this. Wife petitioned for her unmarried son some five years ago over 21, we are still waiting. You don't dare pester them, some of the meanest nastiest people in the world.

If you send nice campaign donations to your senator or congressman, may get their attention, but helpless. But will get an invitation to a dinner and they do know how to eat very well. If you home country leadership says nasty things about our president, forget it.
