Hi everyone,

I'm so sorry if these have been answered, I am absolutely a mess atm and I just want some help.

Basically my husband and I haven't even had our interview yet and we're already waiting to get denied and file the I-601 waiver. He was fined twice 11 years ago for admitting to being under the influence of marijuana. Here is a link to the original post with all the info.

Here are my questions

1) Should we take the documents/application with us to the interview to hand over to the consulate, or should we send them afterwards (if we're denied) to USCIS

2) If we're denied the visa and we file the I-601, is my husband allowed in America during that time period? (We currently both reside in Norway)

3) As for proof that we need to be together in the US I am planning on writing a letter describing my inability to adapt to the culture including evidence of my having gone to a doctor to express my depression and anxiety that has stemmed soley from living here. I refuse to settle and stay in a country I am this unhappy when, when I know my husband and I would have a wonderful life together in America. I am planning on including a recommendation letter on behalf of my husband, written by my Purple Heart-toting Vietnam-vet grandfather, a letter written by my husband expressing his regret and the fact that he has an otherwise clean record. Any other things we should include??

4) What should we expect to have happen at the interview?

5) How much of a wait should we expect after filing? Do we have to start the entire process over? Does my husband have to go in for another interview? OR to sum up: what happens if the waiver is granted? Rejected? We will not stop until the both of us can be together in the US, that is for sure.

Again, sorry for the rambling/massive amount of questions, but we are so shaken up over this. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Have you discussed the situation with a lawyer?

I doubt he would obtain ESTA approval, has he tried?

BTW

A waiver is much much more than a letter.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”
