Democrats had to drop the AWB. There is an election coming in 2014 and the Republicans would hammer red-state Democratic Senators for supporting this. And the Democrats who oppose an AWB would vote no on the bill and it would have no chance of passing, so we wouldn't even be able to get background checks and such.

The background checks you get, IF you get them, will be what the NRA has been trying to get in place. Once the NRA gets what they want, they will let the Democrats claim "victory" Then they will use it to get them tossed from office.

This is just incredible.

This really is another display of Obama not really thinking clearly when he goes out on these limbs.

So many meaning bills are passed by just one vote, think of the monumental loss one vote could cost his team by this gun legislation taking out one democrat in a purple state.

...And for what? It saves no lives and is meaningless in addressing crime.

Obama is not a politician really. He has little experience, except as President, and that is not a legislative position. He never stood for RE-election in a legilsative position. He is a third rate DMV clerk that got promoted because the elevator with all the execs in it fell 20 stories and killed them all. He lucked into all three of his political jobs. His major opponents were either taken out by corruption scandals ...or Hillary because she was a woman and Dems hate women...they are not going to actually elect one to be President. Just as black men could VOTE before white women, Dems will give the job to a black man before they give it to a woman

Not if the bridge is out and the train crashes into the river. Other than a few provisions it has not been implemented yet. Yet to be seen. Thank you God, Vermont has opted out and will have its on single payor plan. If I have a problem with that I can go have coffee with my state Senator at his general store in town.
