In the U.S. I know I can go to my bank or the local UPS store to get something notarized.

How does getting a letter notarized work in the UK? Where can my husband go to get something notarized?

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

If he googles Official Notary's for his area in the UK he'll get a list of registered Notary's. Some Solicitors here are registered Notary's but not all. He just needs to call them and explain what he wants and make an appointment. Usually they take care of typing up the paperwork, however he may be able to do that himself it might help with the cost, but he will need to check ... its expensive here!

Why does he need a notary?

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Indeed. Unless there's something out of the ordinary with the case he shouldn't need to use one whatsoever.

If he is bringing a minor child out of the UK, a notarized permission from the other parent has been required by the embassy. That's the only notarized thing I can think of for the UK beneficiary.
