when should you call nvc after your noa2 has been approved to receive your NVC CASE NUMBER?

I WAS APPROVED IN VERMONT THE 19 OF MARCH 2013, And i received my hard copy today, the 22 of march 2013, now my question is when should i call nvc after my noa2 has been approved TO FIND OUT MY NVC CASE NUMBER?...... im very anxious, and excited in continue with the process... please advise guys !!!!!!

I would advice to wait at least a week for them to get to you, but some members might tell you to start calling them now.

We started calling right away when we check case status and found out we were approved on 1/25/13. They tell us the information was received from USCIS but it is not yet entered in the system we should allow 20 days. We called back on 2/13 and was told that it was entered in system just today 2/13/13 and should allow 20 days for the case #. On valentines day (2/14) we received an email with an attachment asking to complete and submit the choice of agent form (ds_2036) and pay $88 for OAS.

I got my NOA2 on March 4th and have been calling everyday for a week. Tonight I got the CASE #, but now it looks like I need to get the IIN so I probably have to call back. Hubby emailed the DS-3032 as soon as I got off the phone as well. I say wait a week and then start calling. It can get kinda frustrating waiting on hold for 30+ min.s and nothing but that time you call and they ask for the birth date...I started crying knowing it won't be long and won't be for you either! Depends on how much time you like spending on hold. Normally you give them a week to get the file (after all it's being mailed to them) and then it takes them a little bit to get it from the mail room to inputted in the system.

On March 23rd we received the letter from the NVC with a case number and letting us know soon I might received a visa packet in order to start the medical exams and with the interview date.

If you received a letter on the 23, it means that on their system you were accepted couple of days earlier, so that means it should be taking somewhere around 10 to 20 days as people has been saying.

Once you get your NOA2 how long do you have to file the other document. I asking this because my wife and I are building a home in Brazil. Since it has taken over 8 month since our NOA1 was filed. We were just thinking we might have to live in Brazil. Now I want to take my time to file our document. The house maybe finished in about 10 months. My wife does not want to leave before it is finished and we would rent it out if needed. Thanks

At first all you need is your USCIS case number.

Once you get your NVC case number you will need that, the name of the petitioner, the name of the beneficiary, and the birthdate of both.
