Are you working with an attorney? First pay NVC fees before filling I-601A. Here is a link where people have written their own hardship letters and were approved. You can get some ideas by reading them http://immigrate2us.net/forum/showthread.php?115907-Examples-of-Approved-I-601A-Waivers-HSL

HI Everyone,

I submitted the waiver for my Fiance

On June 20, 2014, we received this I601 Application for Waiver of Grounds of Inadmissibility, and mailed you a notice describing how we will process your case. Please follow any instructions on this notice. You will be notified by mail when a decision is made.

Since then, i have not received or heard anything. Does anyone know how long it will take to hear back from USCIS.

Thanks and good luck :)
