I thought a person wasn't allowed to profit from a crime, and if the family won in the civil case, does that not mean he cannot make the money for himself?

I find the whole thing disturbingly creepy...

My understanding from reading stuff on Google (and this article which was pretty good: link) that he was found innocent (not guilty beyond a reasonable doubt). So in the Criminal Court he was not guilty. After that he was found to be Guilty in a Civil Court (which apparently requires a lesser burden of proof). Further there were punitive damages awarded, which required that Mr Simpson was shown to have acted recklessly.

This has bothered me for a long time. The Chase of the White Bronco actually went past me when I was at work. I guess you can get away with murder if you have enough money. There is a little bit of irony in the fact that the government lets him get away with murder and then puts us and our fiancees through bureaucratic hell.

Fox plans to broadcast an interview with O.J. Simpson in which the former football star discusses "how he would have committed" the slayings of his ex-wife and her friend, for which he was acquitted, the network said.

Just even thinking about this seriously makes me ill. Seriously. I have to keep myself from throwing up just thinking he would have the NERVE to even think this was a good idea. And then somebody in publishing thinking this is good idea to put out this disgusting drivel, and Fox giving him more airtime.
