This was on the news in the UK. Saying that people in Japan have been told to move to "higher ground" ASAP.

BASED ON ALL AVAILABLE DATA A TSUNAMI MAY HAVE BEEN GENERATED BY THIS EARTHQUAKE THAT COULD BE DESTRUCTIVE ON COASTAL AREAS EVEN FAR FROM THE EPICENTER. AN INVESTIGATION IS UNDERWAY TO DETERMINE IF THERE IS A TSUNAMI THREAT TO HAWAII.

Initial reports seem that way. The first one to hit was only 16 inches in Japan. Lets hope it remains that way.

Apparently a couple of wharfs were destroyed here in Northern California from 6 foot waves.
