Hey everyone

I am a Canadian citizen and my husband is an American citizen. We are currently filling out our I-864 form. His step brother has agreed to be our joint sponsor. He asked me if he is able to black out his wife's information on his tax return. Is he able to do this?

If he filed jointly then I do not think its possible. I believe they request 3 year tax transcripts. If he filed separately for the 3 years then he is ok with sponsorship. I had this same question for my lawyer and we have a sponsor now who is married and a relative of my husband. She files separately.

Yes, since they filed jointly, she will need to submit a I-864A

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.
