Topic title says it all. We are trying to get my fiancee a tourist visa while waiting for K1 approval. I assumed it would be beneficial for them to know that we are doing things the right way and don't want to commit any immigration fraud. So, what are our chances? Has someone gotten tourist visa with letting CO know about K1?

This is actually why I asked. Because I also see a lot of successful stories in "Yes you can visit" topic. That is why I'm asking, to get things clear.

It's probably easier to travel while fiance visa petition is pendind if you had your tourist visa issued before you applied for K1.

Since this is not what is happening right now I can't speculate on that.

They will probably say no, but I guess it couldn't hurt to apply. Just make sure you are prepared to explain why you asked, when you asked, and why you got rejected with the date of rejection. If it goes through for a yes, I don't think you have to explain anything at your interview.

From what I've heard, if they know you have K1 petition pending they will just tell you not to get married when you travel on the tourist visa. It screws up the K1 petition if you get married prematurely.

Of course it's not exactly the same, but my step daughter did get a tourist visa with a I-130 pending. She did say, however, that about half of the women she saw at the interview were denied.

I cant see any reason why they would have issues with it. I went to the U.S. to visit my fiance with our baby and traveled under the Visa Waiver Program on the ESTA travel authorization. I stayed just under 90 days. The consular officer knew i had a k-1 pending, and had no issues with it after seeing i had a return ticket. Make sure you have a return ticket when you travel, then they can see you have proof of returning.

They will already know about the petition in the system, so of course acknowledge all the truth. If she has good ties to return and has multiple visa stamps from other visits to other countries, chances are good, these days. Also maybe you write a letter detailing her visit and acknowledging her return ticket date, etc etc.
