Hi, I'm new on this forum :) I've been looking through posts for a while and the people on here seem very kind and knowledgeable so I'm hoping for some situation specific advice. I know questions like this are asked everyday so I apologize if I missed something from another thread.

Here's my situation: My guy and I met online in December 2011. I'm 22 and he's 27 (not sure if that's relevant). He lives in Mexico and I obviously live in the US. Not to get into details but after almost daily Skyping, instant messaging, etc, we're as sure as people can be in our circumstances that we want to be together and take the next step despite the risks. So honestly at this point we are really just trying to find a way to meet in person mostly to fulfill that requirement for the K1 visa. But as a 22 year old woman, I don't feel comfortable at all traveling to Mexico alone  but I'm learning how (understandably) difficult it is to come here from Mexico.

He applied for a visitor visa last year and was denied in September 2012 and I'm almost certain it's because he didn't give enough proof that he would return. But at that point he'd just graduated from grad school and had only been working for the government for a few months.

Fast forwarding to now, he's ready to reapply. He's still working for the government so it's been almost a year in that job, and he's moved up in his job position. He has his own car but he doesn't have his own house which I know is a big help, he lives with his parents. He's unmarried with no children, which I know makes it harder and from what I've read parents and siblings living there mean nothing.

So if the only real "tie" he can prove is to his job, what else can he (or I) do? Can his job write him a letter? If so, what kind? Does owning a car help at all? Is there anything I can write or do to help or would knowledge of my existence only make it worse?

And in the worse case scenario, if he just keeps getting denied, would anybody have any suggestions of fulfilling the "meeting in person" requirement for K1 visa without me having to go to Mexico? :help:

Go somewhere you are happy going to and which he could also visit.

Millions upon millions of US Tourists visit Mexico every year..

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Thanks for the response :-) if he gets denied again we might have to take your suggestion and meet somewhere he can go. Don't get me wrong, I would love to visit Mexico and I hope to one day with him, I just don't want to visit there or any foreign country ALONE. I'll probably have a much better chance of someone being willing to fly to the Bahamas with me (since I live in Florida) to meet him than all the way to Mexico. Thanks again for your advice :-)

suggest a direct flight to cozumel - police patrols are very different there, mostly tourists are safe.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
