I was hoping someone could comment on my situation dealing with missing immunization records when filling for AOS from a K-1 visa. When my wife did her K-1 medical interview in South Korea she did not receive form DS-3025 or any records of immunization. When she called the hospital, she was told that they do not send DS-3025 in the medical packet either, leaving us with no records of her immunizations. She states that she had the standard childhood immunizations in Korea, but has absolutely no records of them. Does anyone have any recommendations as to how fulfill the I-693 vaccination record requirement? She does not have medical insurance currently as I'm still only a student, and doing MMR, varicella, etc. titers and repeat physician visits is absurdly expensive. I've tried to find similar posts, but no one has had my problem. Many thanks in advance.

First of all, let me say I feel your pain. You don't have/offer a timeline so your gals home country is unknown and how things are done there, regarding the USCIS, and this will vary by date and country of each occurrence.

Typically, based on my experience, the need for updated vaccines/immunizations all have an age-specific requirement.

This is what my gal and I chose to do. My gal was able to get a copy of her K1 medical examination required by the USCIS for the K1 visa.

Next, the AOS. After learning that she, my gal, probably did not have all the required "shots," we went to the local county health department, in Georgia USA with all available vacc./immun. records. All said and done, the total bill was less than $125 and the most expensive part of the bill was the MMR, mumps measles and rubella shot and this "MMS" is a series of 3 shots - in 2009. However, we chose not to complete the series, at additional costs, because I truly believe that this was not of a "major concern."

Next, was the appt. with the "approved" civil surgeon.

He filled out the I-693, signed it and placed it in a sealed envelope.

No problem.

So, what records did she bring to her K1 medical? You need to bring some proof of immunizations to have it approved. Unfortunately, the same goes for the AOS medical.

I didn't have my records from when I was a child. So, I explained this at the interview with the physician (for my K1) and he ordered a blood test to see which shots I needed (This helped me to save money on shots because my insurance only covered 40% of the cost) I used those results for my AOS medical and had no problems. Maybe you can call the civil surgeon that will sign her form and ask if this is something they can do; this way you don't have to pay extra for another doctor to see her. Just an idea. Hope it helps :)

She will need to see a civil surgeon to get the required vaccinations for AOS. Lots have the problem of no DS-3025. There are quite a few posts here on VJ about it. Search for a CS that will not insist on a new medical. The I-693 instructions tell what you need for the I-693. The required vaccines are 1 in a series of MMR, Tdap/TD, varicella(or history of chickenpox), and the flu shot(during flu season). If you wait until after March 31st, then the flu shot wiill not be required.

My fiance had his exam in Pakistan before he came here. Does he have to get his vaccines from a civil surgeon in the USCIS list...or can we just go to the local health department and get them? We don't want to spend more than we have to. :/

If he is missing required vaccinations that he did not receive at the K-1 medical, then yes, you can get them cheaper at the health dept. and take the record of getting those vaccinations along with the DS-3025(if you have one) to your civil surgeon.
