My husband's interview is coming up and there are mixed opinions about how long Ghana police clearance is good for. He got his in January 2013, and there is no expiration date on it, as there is on the one from Nigeria. We know he will have to get another Nigerian certificate before the interview. The Ghana certificate cost us $300 and we don't want to have to pay that again if it is not necessary.

Does anybody know for sure how long the Ghana police certificate is currently good for?

I was in similar situation about 4 years ago. I am a Nigerian, went to school in Ghana and got married in Ghana. I guess your husband paid that much cos he didnt have his resident permit. It used to be $200 for those with no resident permit back in the day but I had one so I paid like $12 for it or 20 Ghana cedis. Oh yes, Ghana Police Cerificate doesnt have an expiration date. I think it is good for a year in Lagos Consulate System and that of Nigeria even though it says 3 months. They are both good for a year in their system. My case was a bit unique cos it was during my time that Accra Embassy was severely backlogged, I had to re route my case to Lagos and by the time I eventually had my interview both certificates were already 8 months old. I had another set done just in case but it was not needed as the young Man that worked on my documents before the proper interview was conducted told me not to worry cos the old one i had sent to NVC was still good for another 4 months in their system. Still check with the embassy since it has been almost 2 and a half years now but I am pretty sure he will be fine. If there is anything you should be more concerned about at this Juncture, it should be the Lagos Cert and not Ghana Cert cos that doesnt have an expiration date. It is absolutely ridiculous to go spend another $300 that I am 100% positive not needed. I hope it helps! Best of luck in your up coming interview.

Thank both for the information. I'll call to double check. It cost $300 so he could get it quicker. It would have been $200 if we wanted to wait an additional two weeks. If we'd realized it was a two week wait, he would have requested it before traveling to Naija to get his documents there & it would have been ready when he returned. But even $200 more is too much with all the other expenses we're facing just now.

I just confirmed from another source for you. You are good to go. You dont have to get another set because what you have is not even 4 months old. Enjoy your interview!

HI,

.

I have a friend traveling to Ghana from April 1 to Apil 30...I mailed my IR-1 petition on Feb. 27. We have not recieved the NOA 1 yet. However, I wanted to get a jumpstart in preparation for our NVC stage. Do you think it would be wise or okay to get the clearance done and sent back to me via my friend?? (Meaning will it still be dated properly)

Hope the question is clear..

Thanks
