Hello,

what are your experiences with exchanging foreign money into the American dollar? what modes have you used?

My fiance is Argentine and like many Argentines he does not have a bank account. However, his father does.

any insight from personal experience would be awesome!

There are money laundering laws involved here, so please be careful and research online how much money you can bring over the airport. Don't bring any cash over the limit or it will just give everyone trouble. It is best to carry as little cash as possible when travelling, just enough for what you need on the travel and some emergency money.

It is best if it is done from bank to bank, even if it's through his father.

It's usually best to change money in the country of origin. Everyone everywhere exchanges money to US dollars, but here you might not easily find exchanges for some currencies. You can bring in $10000/family without declaring it. If you bring in more, you must declare it on the customs form, but there is no legal limit to how much you can bring in if you declare it.

thank you for your responses. He cannot change his money in Argentina, his country is becoming increasingly restrictive with the american dollar and they will not exchange money... the last time i went to Argentina they would not exchange my money.

It will have to be cash and it will be less than 6,000

I do remember remember that from the customs form being 10,000.
