Can our friend visit from Jordan?

He is young at 24, but he does have a decent amount in the bank for his age by Jordanian standards ($20K USD) and owns an investment property (apartment building). He's worked part time during college and has a full time job offer from the same employer starting in the fall. He's travelled, but only to Saudi Arabia and the UAE. I guess we will just see what happens. We hope to see him. :)

He was denied.

I'm extremely annoyed because they didn't give him a chance to show any of his proof of ties to Jordan. He had his bank account info, his property info, and his employment info. They didn't allow him to show any of it. He said the whole thing took 15 seconds. "Who are you visiting?" and "Are you married?" and then the denied stamp.

The application fee isn't cheap. Can't they at least look at his papers? Seriously, it seems entirely unfair.

That is normal.

Most decisions are made well before the interview.

The applications is all that matters for the vast majority of applicants.

Much easier of they told those who they were going to refuse not to bother turning up, but then I guess that would cause complaints.

Sorry to hear that. Most people, when denied, try again. Some people even report success the second time around with the same information. I think a second try shows seriousness, but you do risk losing the fee.

Is there a reasonable timeframe that he should wait before a reapplication or does it matter?

If the timing doesn't matter and at the risk of throwing good money after bad, I'd like to encourage him to apply again. Maybe if they see another application, they will at least take a look at his documents...

when your friend applied for his visa, how long did it take him until he got his interview? Asking because a friend of mine thinking about applying and I'm wondering what to expect as far of waiting.
