Hello everyone,

I know when you go to the interview you have to have the I 134 this is in effect until you go to the interview for AOS right? If so are you able to have someone else co-sponor with the I 864? Meaning if I have one co - sponsor for I 134 and 2 years later when it is time to submit the I 864 can I change the co - sponsor to a different one????? As always thank you for you advice in advance, WJR.

Thank You, Wjr.

this is the answer I was looking for!!!

follow-up questions:

does the person who was the co-sponsor on the I-134 still have any obligations to "support" the immigrant? or are they basically withdrawn from any responsibility simply as a result of not also being the co-sponsor on the I-864? Is the I-134 just for show, and this co-sponsor has no real obligations anyway?? Furthermore, in this case, are there any additional documents required to submit indicating that the I-134 co-sponsor is no longer able/willing to be a sponsor and there is now a different co-sponsor for the I-864?? a side question, what is this talk that if a co-sponsor is married, the spouse also has to sign something. the fact is that the original co-sponsor was the husband, but now he can't do it, but his wife is now going to do it. the wife is the immigrant's cousin. does this reflect in any way?? your thoughts are greatly appreciated!!!

Separate income of joint sponsors is disclosed by attaching I864A to the I864.

For example - father in law of immigrant sponsors. If mother in law wishes to include her income in the calculations, she does so by completing I864A.

If the income of the sponsor is sufficient on its own merits, a spouse need not sign. A joint tax return filed by the sponsor is not a concern either - inclusion of the sponsor's W2 with the return will coroborate the lower income figure disclosed on the I864.
