You guys have made me feel a lot better about the whole process now, it really helps to know that we're not alone in our age difference, and that you guys got through it all :)

Seems the only issue that we are going to have is the earnings.. I read that he has to be my sponsor, but that we can also have co-sponsors? Is that correct?

And would they take into account that it wouldnt take me too long to find work? I have certificates in aged care, palliative care, dementia care, etc, I heard that it generally isnt hard to find work within those fields.

Or do they only care about the "now"?

Yes, you can have co-sponsors. Check with your consulate first though as some do not. They will not look at your earning potential. It's only about your fiance's earnings at the time of the interview.

What visa have you applied for?

The issue generally arises when it goes against the cultural norm. You will see this as a common issue in North Africa particularly.

I have never see this, but I am going to assume a young USC male and a much older PI female would also raise eyebrows.

They only care about current US income. Your certificates may or may not help you get a job in the USA. Not all education etc... transfers over.

We obviously came from a different country, but they didn't seem too concerned with my husband's earning potential. They did ask what he'd do for work in America and they asked why my income was so low (I had been a student), but all in all, if you've got a co-sponsor then they'll likely approve.

My husband is in the equivalent of a degree program to be an apartment building super and is in the middle of his on the job training. It doesn't transfer over at all, obviously, and that job in America pays a fraction of what it does here, so there is an example for you..

Its all about the USC's current income, and not about potential income. Using a co-sponsor depends on visa type and location. Embassies are required to accept co-sponsors for the CR-1 visas, but are not required to accept them for a K-1. Some embassies readily accept them, some never accept them, plus there's everything in between.
