Damian, congrats on your approval.

BUT, not to be a Nazi about this or anything, as your I-130 and I-129f were approved on the same day, you'll be getting a K-3 not a CR-1/IR-1.

I don't think that it should be included on this CR-1/IR-1 timeline because it makes it look as though those of us who have not filed an I-129f should be expecting an approval when that's not the case.

Could we please limit additions to this timeline to those who are not filing and have not filed an I-129f? Once those who file both have settled on a visa, they can always chime in if they've chosen CR-1/IR-1 and we can add them then.

I'm curious if anyone knows the answer to this: Does filing for an I-129F in addition to I-130 speed up the approval process for the I-130? I've noticed that they seem to get approved together. So part of my strategy was hoping whichever one they get to first will cause them to pull both forms and process them both together. Then I'm hoping to continue working both in parallel (if they forward my I-130 to NVC since I clearly indicated I am pursuing it). I'm also hoping that I can schedule a K3 interview and convert it to the IR-1 interview. Just curious if anyone has successfully pulled this off.

Wife's visa journey:

03/19/07: Initial mailing of I-129F.

07/07/11: U.S. Citizenship approved and Oath Ceremony!

MIL's visa journey:

07/26/11: Initial mailing of I-130.

05/22/12: Interview passed!

Nowadays it tends to, but that's because filing the I-129f means that you're going for a K-3 visa. It used to be that you could file the I-130 and then file the I-129f and one would be approved for another so you basically could be in the running for both visas. But now it seems that as soon as they see you've filed the I-129f, they assume you must want the K-3, so they approve both forms together and you end up getting the K-3 unless you go through another long process and tell the USCIS to forward your I-130 to the NVC and hold back the I-129f.

I assume I was removed from your list since I gave up and went the K3 route, so just to add a little information to the discussions I finally had an email notice my 130 was approved April 27th, after sitting at VSC untouched since July 12, 2006. Hopefully you folks I see with August pending dates will hear something soon. Best of luck to all. I'm off to fill out my AOS forms:-)
