I am thankful for Joel for spicing it up around here after one long ### boring week in ME/NA.

I have my moments. I skipped work today and spent most of my day with one eye on VJ. Kinda sad really...

Hot showers.

Being able to eat after over a year of illness. :)

Allah tries his chosen people through many hardships, but those who persevere through adversity, surrendering themselves before the will of Allah, shall be blessed with a superb reward.

-The Prophet Muhammad (SAW), as reported by Anas bin Malik

A time will come when the sky is torn apart; when the stars scatter, and the ocean drains away; and when the graves are tossed about, and laid open. At that time every man will be told what he has done, and what he has failed to do; and every woman will be told what she has done, and what she has failed to do.

-Qur'an, Al-Infitar, Surah 82:1-5

I am thankful I have a job (so I can pay off those debts from all those trips to Egypt, hehe).

I am thankful for my 4 Maine Coons that drive me crazy (but keep me company while waiting . . . they make great heaters during the winter and I hope that the hubster thinks so too when he gets here).

I am thankful for a quiet and clean neighborhood (not like Cairo).

I am thankful for a car that works and the ability to work remotely so I dont have to risk life, limb and said car in rush hour traffic everyday.

I am thankful for being surrounded by more ethnic restaurants than I know what to do with (oh, wait, I'm not supposed to be doing anything with them i.e. frequenting of them, cause i'm supposed to be saving money and losing weight, darn).

I am thankful to live in a place where we can generally do what we want to when we want to (ok, within reason as some things are against the law) and not have to dodge bullets (well, not too often . . . and no, i never have in my neighborhood) and not worry about the police/military insulting/deriding/beating up/torturing/violating human rights/etc. Not meaning to cause a political debate here. BUT I am very thankful to be in this country even with all its faults and its flaws . . . maybe it aint the greatest place but is home and has much to recommend it. AND I probably would miss drive thrus if I lived somewhere else. hehe!!
