I am kicking myself because I told my fiancee waiting to get married till we get to the States will let us be together sooner. Now that K-1 times are the same or longer as consularly processing an I-130, we could have just gotten married and she would at least be here with a green card around the same time, so we don't have to spend more money in fees for the CIS, or extra hassle with it and with getting all her documents like her passports changed in her home country from the US once she changes her last name here in the US. It's pathetic. And they purposefully don't update the Processing times since Dec 31 so the Ombudsman doesn't get overwhelmed.

I'm also guessing that the date will not change very much, if at all, limiting the amount of complaints they will receive, since most will still be "within current processing times".

I was told that there were a bunch of new hires to handle the case loads. But since the processing times haven't been updated, who would know ???? A long time ago, the K1 was alot faster.... I really wonder what they are thinking at the USCIS... A longtime ago, the K3 was supposed to be faster than the I-130... Now it seems to slow things down. I was going to file both but I have been reading that the K-3 slows the whole process and they get combined anyway. I think I will be only filing the I-130.

You just don't like the fact that there is some unequal treatment, do you? Understandable. Have a look at the forum contents of the people that have been approved at CSC in the last month. You will realize that nearly all of them got congressional help. Now not every senator or congressman office is willing to help. but some apparently do while some will just want to get rid of you and tell you there is nothing that can be done.

Congressman can, and should, help when there are extenuating circumstances. For us, we got help because the CSC said it was processing petitions after ours and thus, it was out of order and well outside of the processing times. We had to provide evidence and be explicit with what we were requesting, but we did get help.

Congressman can NOT make the CSC approve a petition or look at a petition that is outside processing times unless you find and provide evidence to the contrary. They CAN request that your pile be pulled for immediate adjudication if your petition is outside of the posted normal processing times and you have evidence. Being thorough and professional can and will get you assistance. Simply stating that it is taking longer than they said it would, will not.

If your case is not outside of posted processing times, you can get assistance in filing an expedite request, which may or may not be approved.

If you have this information, as we did, and the congressional aide is NOT helping, go above their head. Call and ask to speak to the chief of staff or the congressman themselves. Make them aware of the repercussions of the petition not being adjudicated within the stated time period and someone will listen. The office will help, the aide may try to tell you otherwise. All documentation should be dropped off in person as they are stamped upon receipt and logged into a system.

Maybe we have to call them often, and let them know that we are not happy :)), maybe they will start working faster:))))

It's disappointing that "current processing times" don't track with their stated 5 month goal. Heaven forbid that we should be allowed to fuss over USCIS not hitting their own stated goals. Perhaps if congress forbade the agency from cashing our checks before the petitions are processed we would see a real change.

I-129F Fiance Visa Process

09/05/12 I-129F Package Received at USCIS
09/07/12 NOA1 Notice Date
09/13/12 NOA1 Received
04/19/13 NOA2 Received

05/02/13 Left NVC for Consulate

God forbid they hurry.... This is my second round with the USCIS. First time was in 2008. It took 8 months to get an approval. Back then you couldn't track anythiing online. I hope they get their ####### together and start cranking out the approvals. Its sad that so many people have to wait so long to do things the legal way....
