How long is it taking to get EAD cards?

I have been waiting patiently to get my EAD card - nothing has changed in the last 7 weeks. I have read that this process runs in parallel to the AOS I-485 application but I am beginning to think that nothing here would change till I have my interview on Apr 10. Could this have something to do with me being on H1-B currently? It doesn't help that my H1-B visa expires end of this month and without an EAD this would restrict my current employment

Um, it takes 90 days. Not sure why you guys think it should be coming when you applied in late Jan and February, respectively. Expect the card the first week of May.

OP - Your process is going exceedingly fast so I don't think you have anything to complain about.

Thanks for your respective inputs. My job that pays for my bills is on the line - hence the anxiety. Prior to applying, I was told that it takes 4-6 weeks to get the EAD card but that has not been the case for me :( I am here to confirm if any of this has to do with my current H1-B visa

But I know how you feel, because I keep hoping ill receive mine before the interview.

On my timeline it says going by processing times I could receive it between march 21 and 26th or something along those lines. Maybe will be around the same time for you :)

I am aware of the government stipulated 90 day timeline. But having been scheduled for an interview already I am hoping for a faster issuance! If AOS is approved, does USCIS need to expedite the EAD?

If AOS is approved, the EAD becomes irrelevant. And because the I-765 processing is independent of the I-485 processing, the fact that your AOS interview has been scheduled has no impact on the timeline of EAD approval.

My husband received his green card 2 months after filing and before he received his EAD. Of course, once the green card is in hand, there is no need for an EAD.

Thanks for the clarifications - helps to know that you do not have to wait for EAD if you already have your I-485 approved :) I am hoping to work out something at my current employer whereby I can re-start as soon as I have my EAD or GC approval in hand

Strangely enough I got a pleasant surprise when I tried to check the case status. The status now reads that on Mar 19, USCIS has ordered production of the EAD card. Lets see if I can get it before my H1-B expires next Friday

It usually takes about a week to receive the card from when card production is ordered, so you should just get it in time.
