I point out a common thought among "some people", ..

You point out an assumption you made and attributed to 'some people'. Remember to click your heels three times..

I guess we would have to define "common."

Are Homosexuals "common"? Though they are only 3-5% of the population? I would say so.

And I would also say the views that social environments can shape sexuality is also common, especially among professionals.

And what does all that have to do with marriage and Hillary Clinton's support of same sex marriage?

the religious right exists in a vacuum. which is why danno's so adamant that his personal opinions are the reality.

Superstition is self serving and anathema to reality...

you said social environment shapes sexuality. how did your social environment shape your sexuality?

I don't know where to go with you because obviously you know little about the topic.

Here is your homework: Read up on the topic.

You seem to be one of these people who believe in the Gay-gene theory.

And thats fine, just know that very few professionals are in your camp.

So since you don't believe people are born gay, they must decide their sexuality, correct?

When did you decide you were straight?

I, personally, don't remember ever deciding I was straight. But if there's no gay gene, there's no straight gene, correct? We all make a choice, apparently.

You're falling for the red herring chase... Whether sexuality is determined by genes, jeans or genies is irrelevant and immaterial for the discussion.

When people have no rational basis upon which to make an argument about marriage, they normally tend to turn to their prejudices.

It is no different than back in the day, when interracial marriages were illegal, because blacks were [enter prejudice qualifier] and therefore should not marry whites.

It still stands true there is no reason why consenting adults should not be able to marry.

I just want Danno to tell me when he decided he was straight, that's all. But it seems he's abandoned this thread. A shame.

Huh?

He wrote about this, several years back, claiming it was a Tuesday.

I remember, as he mentioned directly that he couldn't remember the exact date, but did remember that it was a Tuesday.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Little bit of truth in what you say. i do think there are some Gay people who shaped into that decision because of environment.

I do think the majority are just predisposition to be that way at birth. Come on, you just know some kids are going to be gay at an early age

And if you ask the majority of them, they'll say they've always known. And a lot of times, so have their parents.

I love VJ. It's like a trip in Mr Peabody's WABAC machine, to a time when gender dimorphism ruled, women knew their place, and a man could catch the ghey from his domineering mother.

I might agree with that but my earlier comments were not really about my views but rather "whats out there" both across the broad population and with those who study this stuff..... but apparently some people on this board have a very slim circle of friends and even fewer book marks.

Ah, we're going to backpedal and say they aren't YOUR views, just "common" views. I should have expected as much.

Since they aren't your views, then you believe people are either born gay or they're not, right?

Whose views are these? Anyone credible who believes, as you said, that every gay person has a negative influence in their life somewhere? Have a source for that? Like I said, a credible one, please. If this view is so common, surely there are plenty of people who will back it up, right?

You are in denial again, because you don't "want" something to be true... you pretend it isn't because it is unpleasant or hurtful or untrue. And so you deny what many people honestly think or wonder.

And I guess you deny the common assumption that -behind every gay man is a domineering mother, or perhaps a naughty Scout master?

These were the findings of professionals in the field of psychology, at least at one time.

I am denying it. Prove it to me, Danno. Show me the findings of these professionals that mention domineering mothers, naughty scouts, bad fathers and bad husbands. Surely those weren't your own words, since these do not reflect YOUR beliefs, correct?
