This may shock and amaze you, but I'll share it anyway:

Sometimes, people are actually able to believe two different things at two different times in their lives. They grow up, experience things, realize things might not be the way they think they are, and evolve. That quote is over a decade old. Isn't it beautiful when people realize their original thoughts may be incorrect and learn to embrace things they used to be intolerant of?

I think so.

I love seeing people grow and change and evolve. I assumed Hillary was going to announce her support soon - she's been hinting at it and suggesting it for a while, and it's nice to see her finally do it. And in this way. Human rights for everyone.

I am the USC/petitioner.

thankfully, people have the capacity to grow and change as experience requires.

She's a Clinton. That's not what happened here. This is political positioning. If she wanted to enter the mainstream of Democratic Party thought on this issue, she could have done so a very long time ago.

politicians don't all move in lockstep. some are ahead, some are behind.

hillary isn't leading here, she's following.

for those democrats who consider ssm a litmus or near-litmus test issue, i hope they aren't fooled.

Same week? What are you talking about?

That quote you posted from Hillary was 13 years ago. 13.

I think you might want to check your math again, in fact lets see what your heros were saying about 4 years ago.

You don't even know who you support..... thats how important the issues are.

This whole SSM thing is really about getting support - votes and fundraising - in a Democratic party primary.

SSM is simply not a major general election issue.

It won't be in three years, and depending how SCOTUS rules, maybe not even next year. I expect enough Republicans will shift position between now and November next year to make sure it becomes a non-issue.

It will never be a huge general election issue as long as war and debt and unemployment linger.

I don't know. Sometimes lib's latch on to the silliest of issues. The same things they hounded GWB for, they have given Obama a free pass on. If war and debt and unemployment were all that, no way Obama should have been reelected.

The only "math" I gave you was that Hillary Clinton said that quote you posted in 2000. 13 years ago.

I posted her entire history of where she stood on this issue.

She is no hero of mine. I simply agree with her stance on the issue. Now.

I do not care about someone's reason for evolving on an issue. Does she secretly hate the gays and not want them to marry? Doesn't matter to me as long as she wouldn't govern based on her personal/religious beliefs.
