My wife just went through the medical process and was asked did she have a miscarraige. We did have a miscarriage awhile back, so she honestly answered "yes".

Does this go against her or was this a trick question to see if she answered honestly??

Firstly, I am sorry for your loss and hope that you'll go on to have a baby together in the future.

I really cant see how this could go against her. She can not be turned down based simply on having had a miscarriage. That does not qualify as a communicable disease of public health significance, nor something that would be likely to make her a public charge. Providing that everything else regarding the medical is ok, I wouldn't worry about it.

I think she did the right thing in telling the truth. There probably would have been consequences if she had lied and that lie had been discovered somehow.

If you're curious though, these are the guidelines as given to the Civil Surgeons on what to look for and report:

I am sorry for your loss, that can be really hard on a couple :(

I would not worry about the doctor asking you that. It's good that you answered honestly though. I have not read anywhere that miscarige has anything to do with immirgration. It is definately not a threat to public health or anything like that.

Could have been a question to see if you were lying but nothing to worry about it.

The doctor did the same thing to Claudeth and even accused her of having children. Claudeth got really angry and the doctor ended up apologizing.

flipicaneze,

Neither.

The medical form DS-3026 does specifically ask whether or not the person has been pregnant. (My stepson got a 221(g) on his K4 visa application because the doctor felt this question was not applicable and did not check either 'yes' or 'no'.)

It would be reasonable, if the answer to the pregnancy question is 'yes' but the woman has no children, to ask a followup question about miscarriage. Even if there were children, it might be a reasonable question for a doctor to ask about a woman's medical history.

Sometimes visa applicants seem surprised that the examining doctor takes a peek at their genitals - DS-3026 also asks if the person's genitalia are 'normal', 'abnormal', or 'not done'. Don't know what might happen if the doctor marked 'not done'.
