A lot of people had a hand in what happened here: the rapists, whoever provided the alcohol, the lack of proper adult supervision for this party, who's house this incident happened and the victim/her parents. All parties involved exercised poor judgment.

I pray that no women will ever come to you if she ever found herself in that God awful situation. I've been through it with a friend of mine, and I made sure she knew in no way, shape or form it was her fault. Because if you ever say that to a woman, you are just as bad, if not worst than the piece of garbage that assaulted her.

That is because you are a decent person.

Imagine going to someone for support after something that terrible happens and hearing "Well, were you drunk? What were you wearing? You made it easy on them..."

Ugh.

Amazing how some men don't see a drunk woman and think they have the right to violate her, isn't it?

I was thinking about the same thing. I have had my share of sex, drugs, alcohol and rock-n-roll in parties filled with all sorts of people and never felt the urge to rape any of the women present. I made out with a few and there were those who thought it best not to go any further, and not for one split second did I interpret their 'no' as a 'please yes! can't you see I am drunk therefore you should take me here and now'.

We must both be living in some kind of utopia where 'no' means 'no' and where the meaning of 'no' does not get lost in translation...

I, too, have gotten drunk in the presence of men I knew and men I didn't know. I guess the men at these parties didn't know I was "asking for it" ... someone must have had the talk with them.

It is comical that way you puff your little chest out to show the "girls" you are one of them.

And by what means do you use?

By spring boarding off of things I never said. :bonk:

IN your mind, suggesting that we can do things to minimize the likelihood of becoming a victim.....actually is code word for -If you become a victim not only is it all your fault and the criminal is not to blame.

Ok, ok I give up!

lets tell our kids to go anywhere they want at anytime of the night, wearing whatever jewelry or clothes they want

and count on the hope that criminals will respect your "Right" to do so.

This will really teach those rapists!!!

Do you know what the saddest part was? It was someone we knew from school. I saw that douchebag everyday for a year and never knew he was like that. When I got the call she was crying so bad, I had to calm her down before she could even tell me what happened. I didn't ask what she had on or if she was drunk. I listened to her first, then I got her to call the cops. To make her feel like it was her fault, I'd kick my own butt.

All major parties involved this case are at least partly responsible for the consequences of their actions/choices.

Which is a perfectly fair point. We all do things that aren't generally in our best interest. That is, however, not inviting us to become victims. Nor is it inviting others to assault us. As least it shouldn't be.

The reaction, at least on my part, is to the attitude where nobody mentions what the RAPISTS did wrong. Instead, the victim is the one whose behavior is being scrutinized.

It's no surprise that with this attitude, most rapes go unreported. Look what happens when they don't.

Again, you make no mention about teaching boys that just because they see a girl that is drunk and can't say no, that is not a license to force themselves upon her.

Either that or they were practicing lib-logic that a drunk woman does not an opportunity represent.

Who would want to report something like this if this is the reaction they'll get?

"Oh, you were raped? Hm. What were you doing at that party anyway? How much did you have to drink? Your shirt is a little low-cut. Were you flirting with these boys? How old are you? Where are your parents? Are you sure they didn't just misunderstand you? Maybe they thought you were interested!"

Gross.

Ahhh, I think that goes without saying.
