please advice, my wife is a principal applicant for an E31 visa and i am her dependent. we already finished the interview in the US embassy

and we only have to comply the remaining requirements like her visa screening renewal since it has expired already. Now, my passport and hers

are in the US embassy. Then my job is in the middle east, where i am already called to rejoin. How can i withdraw my passport in the US embassy

without giving negative effect on both our application for US immigrant visa? and i also need my job in the middle east while waiting for our

visa..

How much time do you have on your hands before you take up your job in the middle east? CGFNS usually is quick in renewing the visa screen certificate if the applicant is proactive enough especially since its not like an original application.

If waiting to get the Visa screen renewed is not an option based on your time, then just contact the embassy to explain that you need to embark on a trip and ask what the procedure is. It is common occurence in embassies/consulates to request ones passport due to the need to make an international trip

Not sure about your country's US embassy but once you contact them to send you your passport, in general it usually takes 1-2 weeks.

Visas are usually valid for 6 months after issue, sometimes less if your medical was a long time ago.

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.

Your wife should start the Visa screen processing ASAP( If she has not already). find out from the embassy their processing time in releasing a passport and work with that. if by the end of one month , her document does not arrive from CGFNS(cant remember but i think they have expided processing fee), send in a request to retrieve your passport( if embassy time is 1-2weeks as stated by penguin).

Just means you may have to return from the middle east to resubmit your passport once your wife's paperwork becomes ready. and you only have few months to travel after visa unless you plan on maintaining the ME job and shuttle back and forth between the US as LPR.
