Dears,

Iam a Jordanian female (single) was born in Saudi Arabia (currently living in Jordan), my sister is a US citizen & filled for me I-130 on 28.Nov.2012

till now it shows "initial review" status for my case...

I heared that for females (especially single ones) the immigration visa does not take much of time to be current..

Anyone has an idea about how much long it is taking to have the approval\decision & immigration Visa available...

All your posts are very much appreciated..

Hope to hear from you..

I am no expert on siblings immigration, however here is the link to the USCIS processing timeline chart for the CSC, which is the service center you have listed:

USCIS Processing Times CSC

It is showing they are working on Feb. 11, 2010 for your category "U.S. citizen filing for a brother or sister". I am not certain how accurate it is, however you are in for a good long wait. I can't see how you being a single female will help this wait any.

The processing times mentioned in the above reply really doesn't matter, because you will be waiting for your priority date to be current. It doesn't matter whether you are male or female, single or married. Siblings of US citizens have a long wait, currently about 12 years: http://travel.state.gov/visa/bulletin/bulletin_5900.html.

Your gender or marital status has nothing to do with petitions by siblings. Your wait is going to be several years(as stated by Penguin) before you can apply for a visa.

Focus on other things and before you know it, time will fly...

best wishes.

Your sister can try to expedite your visa if there is any problems you may be facing there... This is a long process but doesn't mean that is going to take 12 years to be done so be patient

No there is no expedite possible for the priority date waiting period, just for the processing (which takes les than a year of the twelve she needs to wait).

There are no "problems" in Jordan at this time. And the wait is for a visa to become available, the only part of the process that can be expedited is the processing at USCIS and NVC once the priority date becomes current.

first i would like to thank you all for your replies

& wants to share with you the info. I have, I read a lot about this issue during the passed 3 months :

1- USCIS has a fixed number of visas per country per year, for example if they have 3000 visas for people whom were born in KSA this year, & they received only 2500 immigration petition from this country then all petitions correctly filled..etc shall not wait long, since demand is less than available visas

2- I was reading an article wrote by the council of US embassy in Jordan, Diana Abdeen, she was saying that they have received 3600 immigration visa requests in 2012 & they have already approved 2500 out of them during 2012..

so issue is a little bit confusing...

does anybody knows a relative or a friend who applied for immigration visa via sibling & how much it took on actual till he obtained it?

Thank you all

About 12 years

How long it will be in the future is a guesstimate, the only number available is how long people getting them now have been waiting.

When you submit the petition it is reviewed for completeness and you either get a request for more information or it is approved. This process may even take less than a year. All this part means is that you have provided proof of qualifying for the visa class you requested. The you are placed at in the line for a visa. If you are immediate relative ( spouse , child, parent) of a USC you go to the front of the line. No waiting for a number. Then they have a specific nunber of visas for all other relationships. Immediate relataive ( spouse, child ) of LPR, Adult children, and siblings with siblings being the least important. So after all others get their share there are only a small number left for siblings. Every sibling waits in line. A couple of countries hit country limits before they get to siblings so they wait in a slower line. The petition stays in storage in the US until your box is at the front of the sibling line. At that point it will come out of storage and be sent to the embassy. So any sibling petitions at your embassy were sent in about 12 years ago and are just not getting to the embassy. The length of time changes as siblings are last and it usually gets longer as years go by.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.
