They sure don't have any problem encouraging their people to go north (leaving their families behind) so they can send cash back to Mexico.

Good point. I don't think it's a choice that they so openly choose though.

They have a lot of choices as a nation...such as addressing the problem of doubling their population every 25 years. Their solution for quite a while as a nation has been to dump its poverty and unemployment on the doorstep of the USA to deal with it. A lot of Mexico's problems are self inflicted. They need to solve their own problems and quit blaming the USA for not bailing them out of their own dilemma.

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

"...for the system to be credible, people actually have to be deported at the end of the process."

US Congresswoman Barbara Jordan (D-TX)

Testimony to the House Immigration Subcommittee, February 24, 1995

Their population is like 105 million with a $1.064 trillion GDP..

They are simply talking advantage of stealing jobs from poor Americans by using compassion for their plight as a tactic.. Considering that 40 million Americans live below the poverty line, that says a lot..

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

NAFTA, CAFTA, and other global trade systems have led to the collapse of agricultural economies around the world, the mass migration of people from the collapsed economies move to work for low wages elsewhere, and thus the problem of "illegal" immigration arises. We don't need to contribute to the problem by attacking the people who are just trying to earn a living.

illegal immigration did not arise from NAFTA or CAFTA... this is not new... its only increased due to the fact that there was a mass amnesty granted previously, setting a precedent that says to illegals that if they just wait it out, they will get all the benefits of a USC... illegals come from all over the world... the USA can not be a dumping ground forever... our system will collapse and then where do WE go for help? which country will open their doors with no questions and welcome us and support us because we just want to make a living and support our families? will mexico? will africa? will india? will china? i think the answer is NO, NO, NO, NO... even if they did open their doors, we would have to follow their laws and learn their language and actually give back to their govt... imagine that... crazy, innit?

we wont fix the problem if we continue to ignore the ppl who are breaking the laws... it will only encourage MORE... they need to find a LEGAL way to deal with their problems... it would be easier for me to support my family if i were to rob a bank, but its not legal... so i bust my butt to do the best i can to provide... are there times that are really tight and i have to get creative with the bills, pull overtime that takes me away from my family? yep... but i have to do it, so i do... i have been dirt poor and instead of thinking that the govt or anyone else owes me, i worked my a$$ off to get to a point where i could not only take care of myself, but my family... and i waited to have kids until i could provide for them... absolutely insane, huh?

the illegals that think they deserve to just walk (or swim, or fly) into this country and get all the benefits of a USC are mocking the folks who are honoring our laws and doing it the legal way... they are also mocking those of us who are USC

yes, they deserve to be able to make a living... however, they deserve that in their own country... stay in your country and fight to change it... if those millions of ppl stay in their country and organize like they do here, they could kick out any corruption

dont make excuses for ppl who break the law

and only then, will you find the meaning of happiness."

Ok this kind of thing really ticks me off. Because I'm not a cute little 7 year old boy, my husband isn't getting any special treatment, and nobody else should either. I understand their situation, believe me I do, but I have to agree with everyone on here who says that crimes deserve punishment. And it's not like she would even go to jail, which would really separate them. They could stay together-just back in Mexico. And serve her 10 years like everyone else in that situation would have to. Making your bed and lying in it is a hard lesson learned.

Just my two cents:

I understand that the little boy wants and needs to be with his mother, but I still think they need to do it in the legal way. It's not fair for all of us who have been doing it the legal way. They think that just because they can cross the border on foot, it's ok to enter our land and take our jobs and our money for free?! Our loved ones and families, wether across an ocean or part of our continent, are coming here legally. We are paying money to our government to be with the ones we love. If the government is going to make it free for all the illegal immigrants to stay here, then they should refund all the money we spent to bring our families here legally!

Anyway, I am against the legalization of illegals. Have a good day.

This woman took him . . .

"It's just another added pressure," said Emma Lozano, executive director of the immigration-rights group Centro Sin Fronteras, who will accompany the boy to Mexico."
