Hi everybody,

Im new to VJ as a member, but I have been reading its forums for awhile. I have to say we gotta bunch of members with great knowledge. Ok cut to the chase! me and my wife got married July 2012. I applied for my AOS 02/18/2013 received email of acceptance on the 28th feb and receipt 3 days after. Received Bio-metrics letter on the 6th of March 2013. Bio-metrics completed on the 15th of March. This morning (03/16/2013) I checked my case status (I-485) exactly a day after my Bio-metrics it states the following,

"On March 13, 2013, we mailed a notice requesting initial evidence in this case. Please follow the instructions on the notice to submit the evidence requested. Meanwhile, processing of this case is on hold until we either receive the evidence or the opportunity to submit it expires. Once you submit the evidence requested and a decision is made, you will be notified by mail"[/b][/b][/font]

I'm worried right now. Is RFE a serious matter and can lead to denial? is it a common sign on many petitions? I have no clue what it can be about.

need help.

Can be serious and can lead to denial if not properly answered. You just have to wait and see what the letter says. Sometimes is as easy as forgetting to sign in a form or leaving a blank space, otherwise it can require more evidence. Dont panic, it is all manageable.

It means some information or requirement they need in order to approve you is not in the file. Maybe you didn't prove finances adequately. maybe they lost the medical exam report. Wait for the written RFE to find out what they need. Then supply it before the deadline date they will give you in the letter.

Just wait for the actual letter, it could just be an easy fix. Didn't you make a copy of the packet you've sent at least you'll be able to tell if you missed a line or supporting docs

Good luck!

There is nothing you can do until you receive the letter, even if you call they will not tell you anything over the phone. I can be something as simple as you missed a box to check on the million questions they asked on the form. Or a copy of marriage license.

Need some clarification. The reason I got a RFE was I had sent a translation of my BC with out a copy of my original BC. And the translation I sent was a copy itself, but they never mentioned anything about it. Just to play safe I sent the original translation and a photocopy of my BC.

Does that sound valid?
