Birth Certificate for Interview

Hi,

We have a question about the paper to bring to the interview. In the interview notice letter, it says we need the birth certificate paper for my wife who is an USC. She cannot get the paper here in the USA since she was born in other country. She is an immigrant, so she only has the proof as an USC such as an US passport and an US naturalization certificate. Is it enough for her to bring these two papers or she must have a birth certificate from another country?

Thanks for the help!

If you didn't submit it with the packet, I don't really think you'd need it. The passport and certificate should be okay.

Day 0 - 2 May 2012 Mailed AOS package overnight delivery
Day 139 - 17 September 2012 Interview & APPROVED on the Spot!! :)
Day 145 - 23 September 2012 Received Green Card!

ROC - Eligible June 19 2014

Day 0 - 18 June 2014 Mailed ROC package via 2 day priority

Day 42 - 29 July 2014 Approval and Card Production Email

Day 49 - 5 August 2014 Received Green Card

Hi Sethless

We did not submit the birth certificate of my wife (USC) when we sent package. Does that mean we still need her certificate from another country? Or the certificate and the US passport are enough?

Thank you!

The birth certificate is used as proof of citizenship. Since she was not born in the US the birth certificate is useless. She needs to bring her US passport as proof of citizenship and the naturalization certificate

I just had an interview on March 12th and I was asked to bring my wife's Birth certificate. I didnt submit it with the package when I filed for greencard. The lady who interviewd me just asked us "How she became a citizen?" was it by birth or naturalization? My wife said naturalization and she asked us for the Naturalization certificate. Since your wife was not born in the US, you just need to take the naturalization certificate.

Would you mind me asking - What time is the interview? (you are lucky if its in the morning, My interviewer was kinda sleepy, I had it my interview at 9:00 :) )

make sure you take pictures of your wedding ceremony (if any) and your family and her family pictures.

Good Luck.
