This is what happened on the day of my interview,My appointment was 7:30am ...I got to the US embassy 6:40am ,when i got there the security personals on duty asked us to wait under a tree to wait for them to call us ...so exactly 7:00am they asked us to form a queue,,,,, so thinking it will be first come first serve so i rush to get a better place to stand on the queue ....a lady at the entrance checked my appointment letter and asked me to get to the next door when i entered the was heavy security present including Ghana Police so the check on me to see if i have any device on me ...so they show me another door which lead me to the main consulate hall ....so when i got there the ladies at the reception took my appointment letter and asked me to have a seat .....so a guy call me to window 1 to submit all my documents and the man there was sooo nice to me he got all my document and i saw him too offloading a package which i believe the one my fiancee send to the USCIS to a folder ..then he asked me to pay my visa fee which is $240 to a cashier on my right hand side and i did that and the cashier gave me a receipt and she told me to have my seat ....so within 30mins time the guy at window 1 called me again to take my figure print .....so i waited for 3 good hours before i heard a white lady mentioned my name to come to window 4 and i like the way she sound my surname ...and he asked me to take an oath which i did...and she took a figure print of my middle figure ....then she started with the interview ..where did i meet my fiancee...the time she visited me and the time she left...what work does she do......is she married before.....what work do i do.....and all the answers i will give to her she will be computing it ...so she brought a blue chit out and she was writing on it and she told me not to make any travel arrangement till i have my visa in hand...and i checked on the chit and the date to pick was 19th October ....wooooow God has been sooo good to me and also the good people of VJ i really learned alot from vj which made this interview process with ease .

Welcome to VisaJourney!

I've transferred your thread from USCIS Service Centers forum to the regional forum for Sub-Saharan Africa so that you can get some specialized support beyond the great ideas above.

If you haven't already, go atop any VJ page, click "Embassy Info" and "Reviews: Embassy," and read what folks have written. That will give you at least a general idea of what to expect.

Keep the faith. :)

hello, i noticed in one of the replies that u were adviced to show money transfer receipts, this is not good. dont show money transfer receipt.

i have read a number of interview experiences where applicants who showed money transfer receipts were denied.

you know others think when we have american partners it is because of their money. and that one of the things they might try to find out at the interview, so showing a receipt of receiving monies is suicidal, even though that wouldn't be true.

also i understand u are nervous but u really need to relax and show confidence when answering questions, if u show confidence, means u are likely telling the truth, if u show nervousness, it may mean u are lieing or hiding something.

remember so smile too, it also makes them nice to u, because they see u to be a nice person. not happiness, just a simple smile.

i suggest u let a friend ask you some of these possible questions, it will help u to relax.

Possible Interview Questions for K1 or K3 Visas

1. What is your fiancé’s (or husband’s) name and age?

2. What is your birth date?

3. Why did you have a late registration on your birth certificate?

4. What is his birth date?

5. Do you realize you have a big age difference?

6. Why do you want to marry him? (Or why did you marry him?)

7. How did you meet?

8. When?

9. When did he visit you here? Did he visit more than once?

10. How do you communicate with each other?

11. How often?

12. Why did he come with you for your interview?

13. Or why did he not come with you for your interview?

14. How many times was he married before?

15. Who was he married to?

16. What does he do for a living?

17. Who does he work for and for how long?

18. Is he retired or disabled? Since when. What was his occupation?

19. What are his children’s names and what are their birth dates?

20. How many of his children live with your fiancé full time? If not, where do they live and what do they do?

Our interview was 3/13/13. We had so much evidence (including money transfers) that they didn't even need to speak with me (I came with him for extra proof). After going through our mountain of evidence, they only asked him 3 questions:

How did you met your fiancee'?

When did she come to Ghana?

How long was each stay?

My fiance' told him I was sitting right there and leaving on the 17th. The CO said okay and to come back on 3/27 with the new birth certificate and we are done. Yayy!

Hi everyone, thank you all for your help and support,

I went for my interview today, got to the embassy around 6.45 am, I use the time on my fon and since I had to check it in at security, I'll just have to guestimate the waiting periods. We were all called to que up around 7am. Once inside, the two ladies sitting close to the door to the right took my appointment letter and everyone was directed to sit down.

I got called to window 3 by a Ghanaian lady about 2 hours after waiting, she was very nice, took all my forms, medical a, birth cert, police cert, I-134 & letters from work, 401K & W2s, she returned his income tax report & bank statements to me. Collected all my evidence and gave me a sheet to go to the cashier and pay the visa fee. I did that, and returned the receipt to her. She then asked me to wait.

After waiting for about 20 mins, I called to window 1 by another Ghanaian lady, also very polite, she scanned my finger prints and asked me to wait, again.

After waiting for another 20 mins, I got called to window 5 by a caucatian lady. She had me take the oat, signed the form. Looked through my I-129 petition from NVC, then asked me the following questions:

1. How did you meet ( with follow up questions)

2. Where does your fiancé live?

3. How long has he lived there?

4. What does he do?

5. What does he do in his spare time?

Then picked up her blue sheet and asked me to come back for my VISA on Fridayyyyy ✋???

The interview itself lasted less than 5mins. I was out of the embassy by 10.15am. God is great!!!

All the best to those of you still waiting. Your time will come.

Thank you P.A.@2013.

@ futureride, thank you too.

Regarding your questions, I think it took the consulate about a week to contact me after they received the approved petition from NVC,

The only delay is instead of the consulate calling,or emailing me with the letter asking me to pick up my appointment package,

For some strange reason, they sent it in post from here back to the states to my fiancé, they could have emailed him with the letter if they wanted to send it to him, but they chose to delay things further by sending it in the post to him. It took about 2 weeks to get to him.

When I went to the embassy with that pickup letter, the gave me an appointment date three weeks away, so all in all, it's not too much waiting after they contact you. You don't have to contact them, they will.

I'll advise you to try and start processing your police report now, it definitely takes more than 10 working days tobe ready and between picking up your package and interview date, you won't have enough time. It's valid for 6 months, so you should be alright.

Good luck.
