Cancelling the $450 Card Replacement Fee

My in-laws got my green card and sent it to us last month and somehow it got lost in the mail and has been marked lost and a claim has been filed and granted. After 45 days it got here. That's good news. The problem is we've sent out the request to replace the lost card and we've included the check for the fee two days ago. It's Friday and USCIS was already closed when we called. Do you guys think there won't be a problem modifying our request, I really don't know how to go about this. I mean at the bottom of this http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.5af9bb95919f35e66f614176543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=b3f7ab0a43b5d010VgnVCM10000048f3d6a1RCRD&vgnextchannel=db029c7755cb9010VgnVCM10000045f3d6a1RCRD it says that no refunds/returns. I don't know what my question is, just sharing I guess. :(

all this sending from here to there.

since you 'sent something recently' to USCIS, how did you send it? maybe possible to cancel the shipment or parcel with the shipping company - i think that is best for you.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Cancel the check with your bank?

we tried as soon as we got the green card today but the cashier looked at us in a weird way and said they can't do that.

IKR!? My husband sent it through the mailing service in their company. I would have to suggest that to him and see if there's anything we can do about that. Thanks!

If it was a personal check, yes you can certainly cancel it. Talk to a different clerk or the manager. Since USCIS uses an electronic check clearing service, I don't know whether it would actually work, but I suspect it would.

It was actually a cashier's check, maybe that's why we couldn't cancel?

If any tracking number , then that shipment can be stopped and returned. Suggest to your husband he inquire immediately, then telephone the shipping company immediately, asking for stop and return on the shipment. Use a telephone, get a human.

i guess my concern would be - that current card, in your hands, has it been cancelled or no ?

if no - then it makes sense to chase down the shipment with the fee and I-90 form.

if it has been cancelled, then i am stumped for 0 dollar fix.
