Hi folks,

I just had my medical done, when I got the results and looked over the vaccination documentation worksheet, I noticed that the "insufficient time interval" is checked off for tetnus, and at the bottom of the form, "vaccine history incomplete" and "may be eligible for blanket waiver" is checked off as well. Why would he check off "insufficient time interval" for my tetnus? I don't get it

Do I need to do something? get something done? please enlighten me, thanks

That's just the copy for your records. I believe mine said the same thing, but they said not to worry. As long as you got your sealed envelope you should be good to go. Did they tell you that you were missing vaccines? If not, you're fine.

Yeah, I got my sealed envelope, and no they didn't mention anything about missing vaccinations. Does this mean that I would have to get vaccinated for tetnus when I arrive in the states? or before I leave to the states?

I thought 'insufficient time interval' means it is not medically recommended for you to get the shot because you had a similar one recently. If they check off 'eligible for blanket waivers' I believe that satisfies all the requirements for your vaccines - aka you have a blanket waiver for whatever you didn't get. Did he ask if you recently had a tetanus shot or have you had one in the last few years?

I am not sure what 'vaccine history incomplete' means but I think that is also pretty common and you are probably fine with the blanket waiver. I wasn't able to get the MMR booster shot for medical reasons and got a blanket waiver and other waiver for that myself and was fine.

I was given a tetnus shot by my family doctor recently, and so the panel physician looked at my paper and said "ok, so you've had a tetnus shot on such and such date" and I said "yes".

I am still confused about the "vaccine history incomplete". I really hope this doesn't mean a delay.

It is likely fine. Mine said the same thing and so did my kids' and all it meant was that there were either items that were not age-appropriate OR they weren't the exact timing they prefer. For example, my tetanus booster was in November. Well that is fine for MY timetable because that was when my 10 year booster was due. HOWEVER, the nurse explained to me that it had to be within 4 weeks of my appointment for it to be accurate for THEIR current status. She had said, when I called previously, that if the doctor wanted me to do it again (closer to the date of the appointment) that he would give me a note to go get it done again. He did not ask me to do it.

When I picked our packages up I saw what you saw and was concerned so asked about it. The receptionist said it was fine, if there was ANYTHING missing they would not return the package to us. Their commitment to us is to make sure we have everything we need before sending us off to our interviews.

I hope this helps!

I called them today and as soon as I mentioned the worksheet, the person on the other side of the line interrupted and said "it's fine, everything is fine, that's how they want us to fill them out" I said are you sure? because it says "insufficient time interval" and she reassured me that it's fine. I already have made an appointment with my family doctor, and I am contemplating whether or not I should go in and get another shot and take a note to the interview. Should I do it? I just want things to go as smoothly as possible.

Hey just wondering where you got the information from for the medical exam? Im still waiting for my NO2 but I was thinking I could get a head start on the medical exam by getting the vaccines. www.wokingmedical.com no longer exists which is where this forum indicates where to find the info. Any piece of info would help thanks!!!

where in Canada do you live? I did my medical in Toronto, and the panel physician's website is: http://www.panelphysicians.com/

you can check their website for age appropriate vaccinations. If you don't have a copy of your vaccination record, I'd suggest you get a titers test done, that's what I did, as for the tetnus shot, my family doctor gave me one, plus a flu vaccine and provided me with a note, which I took along with me to my medical and it was acceptable. However, you shouldn't get the tetnus shot just yet, it has to be done within 4 weeks prior to your medical examination. I had mine done a little over that and therefore they put "insufficient time interval" on my worksheet, so I went and got vaccinated again today :( which I don't think was the smartest thing to do (although there was no need, as the nurse assured me it was fine, but I still got it done just in case lol)

Once your interview is scheduled you can schedule your medical with the interview letter the NVC sends you. Good luck

I believe you're supposed to have a tetanus shot every ten years. Seriously everything is totally fine. The receptionist told me not to worry about the insufficient time interval thing, and I was completely fine at my interview. They would not have given you a sealed envelope if you were not fine.

Here is where you can find out the requirements for the medical examination in Surrey, BC:

http://www.drcheema.ca/

On the top click on 'USA Medical Immigration Exam'

Scrolling down should give you the list of vaccines you need for your age group.

You don't HAVE to have the Tetanus shot within 4 weeks. That's just the date they go by to consider it "current" I guess. My booster was in November... which was before I learned about the 4 week part. They had told me that IF the doctor wanted me to get a more current shot then he'd give me a note for it and send me to the walk-in clinic (since there was no way my family physician was going to give me another one so soon). HOWEVER, the doctor I saw confirmed my tetanus date from November and even though wound up with the same "insufficient time interval" but still qualified for the blanket waiver on the vaccines. There is a code on the form that you can google to see what it means more specifically. My kids got the same notice on theirs because they were too young for some of the required ones and because they've only had 2 out of 3 Hepatitis shots required.

It's confusing for sure. If you're dealing with Toronto you can always call them and they'll answer questions specific to your history by phone.

I called the office and they told me it was fine, but I had made an appointment with my family doctor prior to my call to the panel physician's office, so I decided to go in and see what my family doctor says, whether or not I should get another shot, he ended up giving me another shot just because I wanted to make sure I'm filling in all the blanks, I was burning in fever last night, but feeling better today  now I'm ready for the interview

Yes, I know. The nurse at their office told me I was fine, but I had an appointment made with my family doctor prior to speaking to her, I just didn't want any hiccups at my interview so I decided to get vaccinated again
