Here is just one website.

But a lot depends upon the infrastructure of the country you are dealing with. during this phase I was dating my wife. Venezuela really sucks to borrow a teenage term. At times we could even have a video conference, others used these calling cards at 2 cents per minute. So we could talk for an hour at night for a buck twenty. Then were times, the only way I could reach her was using a landline to her cell phone, that was very expensive. Then were times I couldn't reach her at all, miserable days.

Didn't have facebook or google talk back then, wife is using that quite a bit to keep her in contact with her family. Airline rates were also quite a bit cheaper, I did smuggle in a nice computer for her. When I finally asked her to marry me, then it was the USCIS causing all kinds of delays, that was a very long year. But we stuck it out, could have easily gone the other way. If really serious, good to kept records of your communications. USCIS may want to see those.

Saw my wife texting her son in Venezuela and other friends as well with her Android smart phone. Never saw any bills from our cell phone company, so asked her how is she doing that. She didn't know how, but using an app called Whatsapp.

Its a free download, and use it for free for the first year, but then it will cost her 99 cents per year after that. It does required an internet connection and WiFi, and she has to program in the phone number of the person she wants to chat with, country code, area, code and all that. They can also send photos and videos with their smart phones. She can also use it a Macs with free WiFi and at work where they have it.

Since I still live in the stone age era, first time I have heard about this. They claim you can send a million text messages a day with not extra charge. See its also available for the iphone. and Ipad, but have to pay 99 cents.

I personally hate texting, just as soon leave a voice message, maybe the next Whatsapp will have voice, but sure would save on your cell phone usage, the crooks. Least my wife can keep in contact with her friends and relatives for 99 cents per year. Can't beat that.
