Can you start filling in your DS-160 before getting your I-20?

I'm waiting for being accepted to a school I've applied for. I'm really excited about the whole visa process (F-1) and I'm wondering if I can start filling in the DS-160 already, or do I have to wait for my I-20 letter before even starting filling the form? I understand though that I'm not able to complete it before I have the letter. And what about applying more than 120 days before school start? Will I know right away anyway if I'm approved or do I have to wait until the 120 days? It says the embassy will use the extra days for "visa processing", what does that mean?

ok calm down.... yes you can fill your DS-160 there is nothing wrong but why are you in so much rush?

If you are doing electronic DS-160 than I believe they only save incomplete form for 1 week, which means you will have to do it all over again when your I-20 arrives.
