I got our interview letter. It is asking for the divorce certificates... AGAIN! I don't know if it is just a standard one, but I have a question, what do we do?

We more than likely cannot get one. We only had one copy and gave it to the Consulate at the interview. They have the original.

We have:

a. A Copy of the Divorce Certificate

b. A copy of the Divorce Decree signed by the Judge

c. An original Birth Certificate that is certified. In Peru, they track the marriage on your birth certificate. On the back of her certified birth certificate it says that she was married. Then it has a statement showing the resolution of the marriage ending in divorce. This is an official, certified document, so maybe this will do?

What do you think?

It's a standard letter. If you submitted it in your original AOS package and got no RFE, no worries. Take the 3 things you listed with you though. Better be prepared and have too much than not enough.

IO only asked for a copy although I told her she should have the same copy on the I-129 petition

Good luck!

They can ask to see the original and they can give you a RFE until you provide it. You can take your chance that they won't ask, though.

I never been married and my interview letter doesn't mention any divorce certificate, so I guess it might depend on the local office but don't think everybody get the "standard" type of letter.

Hmm that's weird. I was never divorced either, but I can assure you it asks for a divorce certificate IF either me or my spouse was married before. The interview letter looks like this:

https://www.google.com/search?q=adjustment+of+status+interview+letter&oe=UTF-8&hl=en&client=safari&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=isch&source=og&sa=N&tab=wi&ei=qEhFUYiTMsSYqwGnsYDgAw&biw=768&bih=928&sei=rUhFUcGOOcXBqQGozoDIDw#biv=i%7C1%3Bd%7C_i-EqWvEBacV5M%3A

Pleas check yours carefully and confirm it's different than that letter. :)

Mine doesn't look like an I-797C Notice, looks more like a US Department Homeland Security headed letter and it says:

Office Location:

Date and Hour:

Ask for: Adjustment Officer

REason for Appointment: Form I 485 Application to Register Permanent Resident or Adjust Status.

Bring with you: This letter, your passport, and any supporting evidence in support of your application, i.e. joint bank account statements, leases, joint tax returns, health insurance policy, auto insurance policy, photos, etc. Be sure the petitioner/your spouse accompanies you to this intervie.

I guess in Alaska they do things different :P

I got the same letter as you, and our interview will be this coming the 24th of April in Anchorage. I'd like to ask how long is the interview? Do you have your GC on hand now?

We do have joint account, we (my daughter and I )already added to my husband health insurance, life insurance, we have photos also. What other docs should I bring with us? Does my husband still need his original employment certificate?

Thank you and hope to hear back from you,

G

I turned in my Certified copy of my divorce decree at the K-1 interview. I didn't realize until the night before the AOS interview that I only had a copy (not certified) of it in my file. I was a bit nervous about this, however the subject never came up. Whew.
