Hello all,

I filed an I-130 for my parents to come to the US. Once the process started going, they wanted proof of my relationship with my parents throughout the years because of a birth certificate issue. Because we had some document mailing issues and I was out of the country for a month, I was not able to get it all together before the deadline. I have missed it by 2 days. Will they deny my application because of this??? I am worried that I will have to re-file and go through this long process again. I have sent a letter explaining why my file was submitted late. What usually happens in these situations?? Please help! I am worried.

The standard response is to deny your petition. They will say you can appeal but to appeal you must show they did something wrong which they did not. In immigration it is your responsibility to respond to all requests in the time given. You will most likely have to file a new petition.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

Will they not be lenient if it's only two days late? I don't want to wait another 6 months to continue their applications. Does anyone else have experience with these sorts of situations? I have written an letter to the officer requesting to continue. My aunt had passed away and I was out of the country for a month.
