Tough loss for the US losing in the 9 inning by a 3 -1 margin. They missed the bat of David Wright who was out due to back pain.

MIAMI -- Puerto Rico is going to San Francisco.

Behind the two-hit pitching of journeyman right-hander Nelson Figueroa, Puerto Rico defeated Team USA, 4-3, on Friday night at Marlins Park, knocking the Americans -- the only team replete with Major Leaguers -- out of the World Baseball Classic.

The championship round in San Francisco is now complete. Puerto Rico will play the Dominican Republic on Saturday at 1 p.m. ET at Marlins Park to determine matchups for the semifinals at AT&T Park. The winner will play the Kingdom of the Netherlands on Monday, and the loser faces Japan on Sunday.

I know I'm posting this a little late, but whatever..

Whats really cool about the DR winning is that my wife was in Miami at the game with her niece, so she was able to watch her very first live baseball game in the USA, and her countries team won, and I think it's pretty cool. It makes me very happy when Gaby has a "new adventure"..

and since the US has been eliminated, I'll go as far to say now that the final game will be DR vs Japan, and Santo Domingo will WIN!!

Very true.. I live in the Caribbean, and baseball in Puerto Rico and the DR is an institution.. They play year around, and take their baseball very seriously.. I wasn't surprised that we lost to the DR given the amount of top MLB players are on the team, but I was not expecting the US to get eliminated so early.
