The wife thinks I'm crazy because I put Heinz Ketchup on my KD. But it's SO good!

I do too! Nom nom. And KD... Not Mac n cheese.

Real KD or the American Mac & Cheese?

I haven’t had it in so long.

The daughter and I are trying to get beach ready.

I'm not in America yet so Real KD. Is there even a difference besides the box?

there is, the cheese sauce is slightly different.. but I hardly ever bought KD in Canada. I was too cheap, I usually bought the store brands..lol

as for ketchup, the main difference between the American Heinz and Canadian Heinz is that the American is made with HFCS but you can find ketchup down here without it. I think they sell a Heinz variety called Simply Heinz that doesn't have it..

What is HFCS? Some kind of chemical?

It still isn't the same. I found Simply Heinz just after moving here and felt it tasted a little off. When my parents came to visit, they brought me some ketchup from home. We compared the two side by side. Simply Heinz is bright red where Canadian Heinz has a slight brownish tint. Simply Heinz is also a bit sweeter still.

I am a huge ketchup snob and extremely picky about it! I know it is a weird thing to have a 'thing' about, but it is who I am!

I am picky about ketchup too but I can't get Canadian ketchup on a regular basis so I have grown to live with what I can get... I usually buy the Hunts NO HFSC ketchup...

I'm going to Hilton Head Island, where if you ask what type of tea they have they say sweet or unsweet. Then you have to qualify with hot tea. :P

I did see there's a British Shop in Charleston, so I know I can get tea there for sure. They had a Tea Room on the island but it looks like it closed down.

I haven't really looked for loose teas yet while I was visiting because hubby had bags of tea at home for us. Plus the fact he doesn't own a tea ball or teapot.

I'll just have to figure out what is available and make some adjustments and plan ahead.

It'll be an adventure that's for sure.

You are going to be really close to the Charleston Tea Plantations. It is the only place in North America where they grow tea. I have some of their version of English Breakfast tea. It is not as nice as a good Ceylon tea but it is imminently drinkable. You'll have no problems finding lots of good tea in the South. Hot tea is a British tradition and you are moving to an area with a long established history of British colonialism even though it is many years in the past. http://www.charlestonteaplantation.com/

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

My first Christmas here my mom got me 2 of the huge Costco sized ketchup bottles. I also get her to bring some everytime she visits, and I also pick up a few bottles when I am in Canada each time.

This is a good idea!

Weird question, you don't supposed customs cares about bringing this stuff from Canada do they? I've heard they are crazy about stuff like that.

I might have heard a rumor and this is just a rumor that many 18-20 year olds manage to bring quite a few things back into America without customs noticing. ;)

Unless it is some quarantine item I don't think they'd care.
