Hi, my fiance and I recently received a RFE to provide more robust proof that we have met within the last two years. We have gathered itineraries, national IDs, receipts, tickets, etc., as instructed, but have noticed that our tickets and receipts are not in English. Because we are proving a timeline, is it neccessary that these documents be translated into English, or because names, dates, and locations are clear, do we need to translate these documents for them to be considered? And if we translate the documents, could we translate them ourselves? And if so, how do we certify that we are competent translators (for instance, would a Master's degree in the target language suffice)?

Yes must be translated, you can "certify" the translations on your own and no a degree is not required.

I have a guess that the dates are transmorphed,

ie - 1 December 2011 can look like:

01/12/2011

12/01/2011

depending on where you are in the world.

you might want to rework yer receipts, at least, to show the dates in USA format - at least to write about each receipt in some letter of attestation.
