Very frustrated at this point. Here’s my story. My wife went for her interview on March 8th. She did a fantastic job of organizing all papers and documents. She was ready. The office started her interview and asked the minimal questions, how we met, what I do, etc. After a few questions the Officer glanced through her documents and only looked at a few of them. He then opened the medical envelope and after a min he said that the documents were not in order, that the doctor had not signed the document and that my wife had to go back to the hospital to get the doctor to sign. She asked if she was approved for the VISA and the officer replied that the only issue was the unsigned medical form. My wife went back to the hospital, had the doctor sign and place back in the envelope and then the medical document were mailed back to the embassy along with her passport. This was all completed the same day, March 8.

Now when I go to the CEAC website the status says that my wife is in “Administrative Processing” and say this could take several weeks.

I’ve read that people can stay in Administrative Processing or years.

Anyone have insight as to how long this will take. My wife is staying with her sister and not the most comfortable or advantages places to stay. If we knew it would be a month or two she would go back to her city and relax a bit, but as it stands now she’s just waiting and we don’t know for how long. She does want to leave because she put her sister’s address as the place to mail the documents and thought it would only be a 1 week or so.

This process is Very frustrating.

Normally it seems to take about a week from visa approval to issuance anyway. In this case the AP is most likely because of the incomplete medical and will remain in that status until they receive and process her paperwork. I know to you it seems like it has been a long time, but it has only been a week since she sent back in her paperwork. They probably just received it and haven't had time to process it yet. If it is just the paperwork holdup as I suspect it is, her AP will probably be done in a couple weeks.

Thanks for the responses.

It would sure be nice if they said, hey this will take a month or hey this will take a day or two to clear, but when it say hey this could take many weeks you’re kind of in limbo waiting to get on with life.

My wife and I went through the same process. She was told that she got approved after the interview in February. Several days later they notified her that her visa package is on "Administrative Processing". She finally got the approval in October of that year. I think every case is different depending on the issue or situation as to the duration of this process. Our package took about a year and a half from the date we'd sent the package to the date she got her visa. We went through some delays as well in the beginning; they wanted to see more evidence. Hope your process goes quickly; but the wait is all worth it. Good luck.

I will agree with Kastrs and say it appears the review is due to the wait for medical documents. The system had to be updated to something while waiting for the medical clearance. i would say wait till monrth end and see what gives.

best wishes.

AP could mean anything but in this case if what you say is true I doubt the process will take long. Your wife did a good job I am sure but she did miss the fact that the doctor didnt sign. Easy to do but its still a factor.

She could have taken the signed doc back to the embassy as I did. In my case they granted the visa that day and issued it 3 days later.

I suggest she goes to her local Thai post office where she can buy a special pin number to be used to call directly into the embassy. This is not supposed to be used to ask specific questions but I would do it anyway. Tell her to have her case number ready and ask them to tell her whats going on because she has remained in BKK to be able to pick up her passport with visa. The only problem she may have would be if her docs hadnt arrived at the embassy yet. The fee for the pin allows her to call several times.

You can email them and find out what's going on.

Thanks for everyone's support. I did call yesterday and my wife and I both sent an email. To my surprise they responded the same day. They said they received the medical documents and will need some time to review the documents. But again did not say how long, but I suspect that the visa will be issued next week as the only thing missing was the doctors signature.
