Hey,

I'm preparing all my paperwork right now in hopes of our petition getting approved soon. I just stumbled over question 35 on form DS-156: Has your U.S. visa ever been cancelled or revoked? I don't know how to answer that question…I once had a J1 visa and left the States before the visa expired and the same with the F1 I had after that. I'm guessing that because I left the visa was canceled (the F1 got crossed out when I went back on the VWP a few months later), so I think I should answer that question with yes…but I'm not sure :help:

Are they going to give me a hard time at the interview because of that?

Your visa expired. It wasn't cancelled or revoked. It won't be a problem at the interview since you haven't overstayed on either.

But the F1 was crossed out before it expired…doesn't that mean it was canceled?

Was the F1 multiple entry?

Not sure what you mean, but I did leave the States for travel to Europe and Canada while on my F1 - I had a form signed by my school's International Office that allowed me to leave and re-enter the US afterwards (I forget what it's called). When I decided to go back home, my SEVIS record was canceled and, like I said, when I came back to visit, the F1 page in my passport was crossed out.

I think you would say no to those questions. Your visas weren't cancelled or revoked because of any wrong-doing, overstay etc.
