¡Tenemos Papa!

First from Latin America, first Jesuit, first Francis!

He was second choice in 2005 when Pope Benedict Emeritus was elected. Though I'm not a Catholic I think he's a great choice for a lot of reasons. He's the first from the developing world and not the developed world. He's from the region where the heart of the church is growing the most while many are leaving the church in the West. He is humble and did not expect to be chosen because of his age but is pretty active. He does well for having only one lung as he lost the other one to an infection when he was young. In Buenos Aries he refused to live in the fancy Bishops quarters and took a bus instead of a limo. You gotta appreciate that the man also cooks his own meals. He's spoken out strongly against globalization and the effects it's had on the poor. He's very much about social justice and bringing attention to economic inequalities and the global south.

This is Latin America's time to shine! I feel the joy an excitement myself.

Bienvenidos Papa Francisco!

All kidding aside, I was impressed with his demeanor. He appears very likable.

Maybe it's dark in Italy?

That's crazy how would veggies grow

I guess people are learing from that whole Petraeus/Gen Allen incident. Remember the good old days? Before internet and social media? When all you had to do was keep the lipstick off your collar and you could have 3 families.

When it comes to sex and hot women there will always be another fool ready to fall off the cliff.

Who you kiddin, that's the smoke coming out of your party room.

Now that's funny... National Lampoon did a movie in which the guy accidentally set the popes hat on fire. Can you imagine Cheech and Chong at the Vatican

I agree I was impressed with his demeanor too and think he'll be really good in so many ways. I know a lot of people wanted a younger Pope in his 60's but one thing going against those candidates is that they hadn't been cardinals long because Benedict appointed so many of them. The church wanted someone already in the mindset and they also didn't want someone new to have a long papacy.
