Anyone have experience with getting a NYC Drivers License. My husband just went again and they told him that he can't beause the I94 expired. We are married and showed that as proof as well and his work authorization Social Security #. The funny thing is that he took the test last month and it already had expired, but he just failed the test.

I don't know who NYC Law wirks but here in florida, i only needed my SSN card and my EAD (work authorization). No passport, no wedding certificate. The only thing is thst the dmv gave me a temporary driver license (until september when my EAD expires) and once my green card arrive (hopefully within 2 weeks) I have to go back with my GC and renew my DL.

A question? Did you already filed for his green card (AoS)?

Thank you Andrea. Yes, I just filed his AOS . I'm thinking in reference to your post I should go when is AOS gets processed, just so that I won't have to be going back and forth. I really thought I can just do it with his Social and Passport and the other minimal requirements. They asked for some other form of identification, which obviously we don't have.

Ohhhhh! Bingo! That's exactly what happened! The NYC law states that if you want to obtain a dl you need to proof you are a legal resident (well must of the states) besides the SSN you will need his EAD or his green card. The passport is useless in this case cause he is not visa holder anymore.
